Job Description

Overview:

Reporting to the Project Manager this role will work collaboratively with the Project Manager Construction Manager Supply Chain Manager Project Coordinator and the project finance/administration team. The Project Controls Manager will be responsible for the full cycle of project controls on their assigned project(s) namely work breakdown structure (WBS) setup estimating forecasting change management cost management schedule management project cost analysis project earn value progress measurement tracking risk management proposals/pricing cashflow reporting billing reconciliations and financial forecasting.

Must Haves:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in project controls in the construction industry with specific focus on heavy industrial or oil refinery projects.
  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Accounting Engineering Business or equivalent experience.
  • Strong cost systems background and excellent analytical skills in a multiproject and multientity environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office particularly Excel and familiarity with Sage 300 CRE and ERP software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate tactfully and diplomatically.

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with 4castplus and use of P6 software.
  • Experience in supporting procurement teams with ordering tracking and coordination of project materials.
  • Ability to conduct financial closeout of projects ensuring accurate cost and revenue accounting.
  • Experience in project reporting KPI scorecard updates and preparation of project reports and presentations.
  • Proficiency in monitoring and managing change order processes and pricing variations.
  • Experience in project management development and analysis of cost standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage full cycle of project controls for oil refinery expansion projects including WBS setup estimating forecasting change management cost management and schedule management.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial and project reporting adhering to contractual and reporting requirements.
  • Set up and maintain budgeting templates project WBS budgets activities and milestone data in enterprise systems.
  • Conduct weekly/monthly project progress reporting analyzing cost variances and recommending corrective actions.
  • Support the Project Manager with weekly/monthly project reports and presentations presenting project metrics to management as required.
  • Reconcile revenue and approve billable invoices for the project.
  • Support a culture of safety and quality within the team including reporting on relevant KPIs.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct in client meetings and communications providing recommendations based on cost and schedule data.
  • Work collaboratively with project teams including Project Manager Construction Manager Supply Chain Manager Project Coordinator and finance/administration teams.
  • Supervise Project Administrator(s) Scheduler Project Accountant and Project Controls Specialist.
