POSITION SUMMARY

Students In Action (SIA) is a best-practice, research-informed service-learning, and leadership development program for teens that uses project-based volunteerism as the vehicle through which youth gain critical skills necessary for success in high school, college, and beyond. Reporting to the Acting ED, Greater Boston, a successful candidate for the role of Program Associate in the Greater Boston region will be passionate and dedicated to the power of service and how it can transform the lives of others. Candidates for this position should have experience working hands-on with youth and their caring adults, leading service-learning initiatives, and implementing events and programs.


Core to the success of this role will be an ability to effectively engage both students and adult volunteers, thereby building the Multiplying Good community through programming across the region.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The activities below are core to, but not limited to, the work of Multiplying Good to make an impact across Greater Boston area:


Program Retention

ü Steward current relationships with organizations that support SIA across the region, including colleges, universities, nonprofits, businesses, athletic organizations, individuals, and more.

ü Foster relationships with current school or partner staff where SIA teams are active, including teachers, principals, administrators, and other staff, for the purpose of engaging and retaining SIA teams.

ü Support the Acting ED in meetings with community and school leaders.


Program Partnerships

ü Attend and participate in school-community meetings as necessary and permitted, such as parent-teacher associations, school improvement councils, nonprofit or out-of-school-time provider collaborators, etc. as a representative of Multiplying Good.

ü Manage and liaise with schools and districts as required to maintain vendor or partner status.

ü Attend and participate in meetings of the Multiplying Good Greater Boston Board and follow up with requested information as needed.


Program Administration

ü Support the planning and managing logistics for twice-annual Leadership Conferences and year-end Public Service Pitch Day (student presentation showcase event) held in the region, including the procurement of food, presenters, space, audio-visual equipment, etc.

ü Support the Acting ED in recruiting volunteer facilitators and assistants at conferences and events.

ü Support schools in registering for and attending SIA conferences and other events.


Program Support

ü Provide technical assistance to schools via in-person visits, phone, email, and webinars as needed, typically occurring weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly, depending on the needs of the team.

ü Act as a resource to teams, providing helpful tools and resources including project guides, service-learning lesson plans, planning templates, etc.

ü Provide technical assistance and support to a range of adults who support each SIA team.

ü Maintain up-to-date documentation of program support inside the team record for each SIA site housed inside MG s database software.


Program Evaluation

ü Ensure implementation of SIA with fidelity, using data to drive program performance and supporting the creation of tools and resources to enable program implementation.

ü Support evaluation and tracking through the management of program databases and the collection of impact data, including surveys, assessments, and student service testimonies.

ü Work with national Multiplying Good staff on continuous program improvement.


Program Marketing

ü Support Acting ED in maintaining a strong and appropriate local social media presence.

ü Build a repository of photos and videos that illustrate program participation and impact when working with SIA teams and attending MG events.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

ü Serve as a representative of Multiplying Good in the Greater Boston area, attending meetings and networking events on behalf of Multiplying Good as assigned.

ü Attend and provide assistance as assigned at twice-annual Multiplying Good national events outside the region: 1) the National Celebration of Service and 2) the Jefferson Awards (locations vary for both events and may require air travel and overnight stays).



Requirements

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES FOR SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE

ü A natural collaborator who proactively engages colleagues and stakeholders with goodwill, transparency, and kindness.

ü Bachelor s degree from an accredited institution.

ü Prior experience working with youth or in youth development.

ü Strong relationship management and networking skills.

ü Service, service-learning, training, and youth leadership experience.

ü Experience in the promotion of volunteerism and community impact a plus.

ü Strong written and oral communication skills, including presentation and facilitation abilities.

ü Solid organizational, project-planning, and time-management skills.

ü Passion for working with program staff, service and volunteerism, and youth development.

ü Strong organizational, project-planning, and time-management skills.

ü Event planning and event management experience a plus.

ü Valid driver s license and access to a reliable vehicle or comfort using public transportation[SL1] .

ü Computer literate and aptitude to use Microsoft Teams and Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Planner, SharePoint OneDrive), ZOHO ONE (CRM, Survey, Backstage, Campaigns, Expense), social media, and other web-based applications.


BUSINESS TRAVEL

This position includes travel throughout the Greater Boston area to work with youth and partners as described above. It also includes occasional air travel outside the region, approximately 2-3 times annually, for national staff retreats (location varies) and to the national Jefferson Awards in Washington, DC or in New York, NY. Multiplying Good provides mileage reimbursement for work-related travel and covers the cost of transportation and accommodation for all travel outside the region.




Benefits

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience, ranging between $24 to $28 per hour. Employee benefits include a monthly technology allowance and a generous PTO policy.
