Production Mill Operator

Position Purpose: Demonstrates knowledge of operational processes. Performs required work safely and uniformly within operation guidelines & standards but does not necessarily have proven proficiency in specific skillset within department.

Job Assignment/ Core Accountabilities:

Heat Treat Assistant

• Rolls pipe into position
• Measures ovality & other processing issues
• Marks pipe for rework when applicable
• Generally assists operators

Machine Operator

• Operates machinery in booth with precision
• Ensures accuracy of equipments temperature readings
• Troubleshoots to correct general issues

Drift Operator

• Drift pipe to measure ovality and other weld issues.
• Dope and cap pipe.

Bucking Machine Operator

• Sets up and operates machinery to apply couplings to threaded pipe efficiently and effectively.
• Interprets and applies specs to ensure compliance with production order.
• Adjusts machine and troubleshoots general malfunctions as needed.
• Performs routine maintenance and inspection on machinery to ensure proper functionality.

Machine Operator

• Thread pipe as directed and according to specifications of order.

Saw Operator

• Cut pipe as directed and according to specifications of order.

Forklift Operator

• Operates large lifts and moves pipe accurately and safely throughout the yard.
• With precision and without damaging materials or property loads/unloads trucks pipe racks heat treat and threading entry and exit points.
• Other : Temporarily assume the duties and responsibilities of other roles as directed by management. All safety and operational parameters of the assumed role apply.
• Proficiency & Productivity : Maintains a consistent high level of productivity and a consistent high level of accurate movements.

Qualifications And Essential Functions/ Experience Required:

• Experience in an industrial environment using related tools and equipment. Six (6) months of training & close supervision in position.

Education/Experience (REQUIRED)

• High School diploma or GED equivalent strongly preferred; Certification a plus.

Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to work overtime in order to meet the needs of the operation.
• Acute visual ability to observe product nonconformance. Visual ability consisting of strong close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision and depth perception.
• Perform intense manual labor with long work hours. Ability to stand for a long period of time; bend stoop climb balance kneel crouch crawl and move around work area.
• Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel and reach with arms.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 55 lbs occasionally and 20 lbs regularly.
• Demonstrates skill in operating equipment.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
• Ability to read a minimum of Jaeger 2 or equivalent type and size letter at a distance of not less than 12 inches on a standard Jaeger test chart.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio percent and mass; and interpret bar graphs.
• Aptitude to calculate and use the following instruments Scale in 1/8 1/16 1/32 and 1/64 increments 12 to 72 long; Protractor Head Diameter Tape 100s increments Micrometers Diameter Tape 1/64 increments 6 Vernier Caliper 50 Tapes Ring Gauges Squares Levels Line Levels Various Tape Measures Conversion Charts (Decimal to Fraction Fraction to Decimal) TriSquare String Line Feeler Gauges Overhead Scale Dial Indicators Calipers

Communication:
