Job Description

Req ID : 1699214
Area: Biochemistry/Proteomics

Project: Proteomic and N-terminomic analysis of the profile of effects triggered by snake venoms proteases (link removed) The project involves the application of proteomics, peptidomics and N-terminomics approaches to analyze the effects of proteases of Bothrops jararaca snake venom on cells in culture and in a murine model.

Applicants should have recognized experience in mass spectrometry applied to protein identification (proteomics), and related bioinformatic analyses, and in the use of orthogonal chromatography for proteins and peptides, protein electrophoresis, Western blot and immunofluorescence.

The post-doctoral fellow will have the opportunity to work on the characterization of the local and systemic effects of snake venoms, focusing on the proteolytic profile, using high resolution mass spectrometry. The overall objective of this project is to expand the systemic analysis of the mammalian host response to a complex mixture of toxins, and also the impact of anti-venom on the systemic venom effects.

Candidates should have a PhD in Biochemistry or Molecular Biology, in addition to scientific production compatible with their career length, with first authorship in publications, and motivation to solve complex, multifactorial biological problems.
