PHP Developer

We are a young Dutch travel agency aiming to show travelers the real diverse Africa! This is only made possible because of our very skilled and passionate Angels: a group of Africa enthusiasts living spread across the continent. We have Angels in Kenya South Africa Uganda Tanzania and in the Netherlands. We join forces to organize unforgettable offthebeatentrack tours in Eastern and Southern Africa especially appealing to those travelers who want to escape the standard tourist route and embark on a more authentic adventure!

What we are looking for

We are looking for a young dynamic person with excellent IT skills and can understand processes and can write down the requirements and automate them. It is necessary to understand these programming languages: PHP MySQL HTML and CSS. Nice to have knowledge about WordPress Linux and JavaScript.

What does the job involve

• You will maintain the current systems and develop them further
• You will check in with the users of all our systems and see if you can improve them and check if everything is working as expected
• You will prioritize all the work that has to be done and make sure you communicate well with the users of the systems
• You will come up with new features and improvements for the current systems
• You will check the setup of our server and come up with improvements if necessary
• You will document all the current and new systems in a way other developers can also develop them further
• Set up a good DTAP environment so we professionalize our development stack
• Set up Git or something and think of a way how to work with different developers on the code

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in developing PHP applications using MySQL as a database from scratch
• 3 years of experience in developing HTML from scratch
• Understand the business side of organizations and can communicate with colleagues about wishes which can translate to solid solutions.
• Bachelors degree in a relevant field (for example: ICT)
• You speak and write excellent English and have good verbal communication skills
• Commercially minded enthusiastic and a team player
• You are culturally sensitive organized and structured and you have good time management
• You can multitask; and handle several projects at the same time
• You have experience working in a crosscultural environment
• You can work independently and take initiative
• You can take responsibility
