JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the General Manager the Outside Supplier Process (OSP)/Materials Buyer handles the daytoday responsibilities for ensuring timely receipt of outside processing raw materials hardware and other procured services & supplies in support of company and its operations. The OSP/Materials Buyer will be required to interact regularly with a diverse audience both internal and external to the Company and at a variety of levels and functional backgrounds. The OSP/Material Buyers duties are broadbased requiring an ability to identify priorities and make adjustments and decisions where necessary and to perform the role in a positive confident cohesive manner in coordination with Operations Leadership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (But not limited to the following)

  • Purchases materials goods and services as prompted by the ERP system or directed by operations management.
  • Directly responsible for OSP and materials procurement and acts as a backup for MRO and other procurement as needed.
  • Prepares and issues purchase orders. Captures all Purchase Orders in companies ERP system.
  • Negotiates prices and delivery schedules to insure lowest price and minimum inventory consistent with purchasing economics.
  • Responsible for the ontime delivery of purchased items and services by maintaining tracking systems and strong communications/relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Follows up on receipt of goods/services purchased. Ensures that proper paperwork including certifications of conformance and traceability are received with the purchased goods/services as required.
  • Obtains timely commit dates from suppliers and communicates with sales and production operations as needed to ensure company customer schedule adherence.
  • Resolves quantity quality documentation and other discrepancies associated with procurement working directly with vendors and suppliers as needed.
  • Reconciles invoice discrepancies as needed.
  • Obtains material return authorizations from suppliers for defective or excess materials.
  • Arranges for the return of materials to suppliers as needed.
  • Understands and follows all procedures and work instructions associated with Purchasing functions in compliance with all company policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three years experience in purchasing including as an OSP buyer in a manufacturing setting.
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proficiency with MRP systems and generating reports from them.
  • Strong negotiations skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Selfmotivated and deadline oriented.
  • Well organized and flexible to changes in schedules and priorities.
  • The ability to interact with all departments and levels of leadership.
  • Strong problem recognition and problemsolving skills.
  • Must be selfmotivation assertive when needed and have a positive attitude.
  • The ability to deal professionally with several internal customers at once.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees managers and outside service providers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply basic to moderate mathematical concepts such as sums and averages. Ability to create graphs and charts.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. The role requires a presence on the shop floor of up to 30% of the day to be effective.
