Location: Major cities in Botswana South Africa Namibia Zambia Malawi Lesotho Eswatini and Zimbabwe

Type: Fully remote

Reports to: Ling Liang Operations Director

Hours per week (average): 40 (fulltime)

Our Work Established in 2019 we work to advance equality in health leadership through a range of actions at the individual institutional and societal levels. This includes a Leadership Journey which focuses on equipping midcareer women the tools along with peer mentor and coach support to successfully use their voice expertise and leadership for impact. It includes pushing conversations and partnerships with senior leaders in health institutions taking steps to prioritize gender equality. It also includes supporting/convening global conversation about the importance of womens leadership amplifying the voices of national and global health leaders including at the biannual WomenLift Health Conference.

Responsibilities and Tasks

The Operations Coordinator for Southern Africa will be based out of Southern Africa and work under the direction of the Operations Director. The Operations Coordinator will be an important member of the small and nimble WomenLift Health Ops team helping to design build and implement the ambitious WomenLift Health strategy and work program. This position plays a vital role in team resource management meeting/travel planning and logistics and contract management and payment primarily in Southern Africa but also supporting the team globally as well. The Operations Coordinator must possess a keen eye for detail planning and organization and enjoy building and refining implementation processes and systems. The ideal candidate should be able to work adeptly both independently and in a team.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Working with Operations Director and Operations Lead implement operational policies and procedures:

  • Operations Support (50%)
    • Coordinate the operations workplan and project managing operations projects of varying types and scopes
    • Provide operational support to newly launched country and regional hubs to support and scale up their local teams
    • Coordinate IT support needs and technological assets/resources of the organization
      • Coordinate work with IT providers cybersecurity efforts and facilitating team members technology needs at global regional and hub levels
    • Primarily support contract development management oversight payments liaising with program staff leads and contractors for the Southern Africa Hub and as needed globally
    • Work with the Operations team to implement operations internally or through New Venture Fund including but not limited to:
      • Tracking and processing invoices and expense reports
      • Adding vendors to the NVF payment portal
      • Collecting forms for cohort members and processing reimbursements through the NVF portal
  • Human Resources Support (25%)
    • Working with the HR Manager to support in recruiting and hiring
    • Set up Doodle polls schedule interviews send followup emails to applicants etc.
  • General Administrative Support (25%)

Education Experience Knowledge Skills and Ability

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum 5 years related experience for projects of comparable size/complexity
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Sophisticated knowledge and use of technology and varying digital platforms (e.g Zoom Monday SharePoint)
  • Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates the ability to work well with colleagues clients and external stakeholders from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated success in following through and completing projects in a timely manner
  • Commitment to WomenLift Healths mission vision theory of change and unique positioning in the field
  • Ability to exercise cultural competency and work respectfully with a diverse team across varied cultures geographies and time zones
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects
  • May require up to 10% travel

VALUED AND NONESSENTIAL EDUCATION EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITY

Additional language preferred but not required

Background in public health gender equality leadership development or related field
