We are looking for a Occupational Therapist to join an independent day school for neurodivergent children and young people aged from 7 to 19 who have a primary diagnosis of Autism.

Location: North Finchley

Sector: Health / Social / Mental Health

You will work closely with the OT team overseen by the Lead Therapist and also you will work with neurodivergent young people who present with sensory mental health and special educational needs associated with their diagnosis of autism. A flexible approach a sense of humour reliability punctuality stamina resilience and the ability to work under pressure are essential. You will work closely with the other schools in their group have extensive community links and believe in thinking differently and being as creative as possible in our approach.

Tasks

  1. To facilitate Occupational Therapy interventions to a defined caseload working with an agreed degree of autonomy and independence with regular support/supervision from the Therapy Team Lead and clinical supervisor.
  2. Conduct initial parent/carer meetings to determine case history and needs.
  3. Facilitate initial assessment sessions employing appropriate assessment methods to determine needs
  4. Plan prepare deliver and evaluate support programmes for pupils and oversee individual programmes.
  5. Provide individualised targets as part of each pupils IEP in consultation with parents and teaching staff.
  6. Report on the development progress and attainment of pupils and maintain records of interventions.
  7. To keep confidential clinical casenotes for each student in line with professional standards.
  8. To write reports to contribute to Annual Review meetings.
  9. To maintain regular communication with parents teaching staff and MDT to support a joined up approach around students.
  10. To contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings student focus meetings and class meetings to share information and provide appropriate strategies.
  11. To incorporate specialist information into practice in order to ensure a joined up approach between therapies and more widely across the school.
  12. To deliver staff training including Occupational Therapy induction for new staff.
  13. Depending on experiencesupport the MDT Lead in the specific leadership of the OT team including providing supervision for an OT assistant.

Requirements

  1. You must hold a BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy

  2. You must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and be a registered practicing member of RCOT EXPERIENCE:

  3. Relevant experience working with autistic children and young people.

  4. Experience working within school settings is desirable.

  5. Knowledge of competencies/standards framework required for the relevant therapy discipline.
