Requirements

  • Significant experience in a complex financial services firm or related fintech/payments industry with proven experience operating at an MLRO level
  • Strong operational knowledge in executing and running a sound financial crime program preferably with handson knowledge and relevant regulatory requirements in key markets UK Canada US
  • You can apply AML provisions including KYC Sanctions and transaction monitoring to a fast paced and diverse business environment
  • You have built and led financial crime teams previously and have worked on projects collaboratively in crossfunctional teams
  • Proven people management experience
  • You are comfortable operating at all levels of the organisation up the Board and Executive but most importantly you are always ready to roll your sleeves up and get things done
  • You can develop and maintain a network of relevant contacts where appropriate across international regulatory bodies law enforcement and professional groups
  • You are great at providing effective challenge whilst building strong respectful relationships
  • You are comfortable giving oversight and assurance on the prevention detection and deterrence of financial crime
  • You are comfortable working in a fastpaced business and with ambiguity effortlessly handling volume detail and complexity but working and communicating with simplicity
  • You are able to build strong working relations with peers colleagues and with remote based teams with individuals at all levels of the organisation

Responsibilities:

  • Take accountability for our clients Financial Crime second line strategy policies and monitoring programme to protect the business against Money Laundering and Fraud Risk Internal Fraud and related reputational risk.
  • Ensure that the AML/CFT policies controls processes and procedures are appropriately designed implemented and effectively utilised to reduce the risk of the organisation being used for ML/FT.
  • Drive the Fincrime Monitoring and Assurance programme ensuring our client maintain and continue to build a proportionate riskbased culture towards combating financial crime.
  • Give guidance and insight stepping in to assist with operational escalations as necessary from the team.
  • Make sure that the teams are fully aware of all new laws rules and regulatory requirements pertaining to financial crime and the company has appropriate plans in place to comply with these. Youll also do this in conjunction with other secondary teams.
  • Liaise with their technical partners regulators and law enforcement agencies to proactively identify trends criminal activity and organised criminal attacks.
  • Support our clients Head of Compliance in their efforts to continue to develop a great relationship with our clients regulators and other 3rd parties.
  • Be a leader in our clients Compliance team and an advocate for good risk and governance culture.
  • Build a strong compliance and antifinancial crime culture through organisational training and awareness programmes.
  • Report to the Board and the Board Risk Committee and prepare reports (including at least six monthly MLRO reports) that communicate all relevant financial crime compliance issues and escalate any key or high risk financial crime issues.
  • Help to build a high performing partnership with the rest of the organisation.
  • Assess any client activities which score as high risk of ML/FT either at onboarding stage or through the client relationship in order to provide recommendations in relation to the mitigation of the risks identified.
  • Be responsible for unusual activity reports communication with the supervisory authority and ensuring that AML/CFT policies and procedures are in place effective and implemented.
  • Manage recordkeeping including the filing of relevant internal and external reports.
  • The MLRO should take full control over creating updating and maintaining the companys AML policy and procedures particularly in light of any new developments or changes within the regulatory environment. In all likelihood the MLRO will be periodically updating the policies to ensure they are still compliant and the outlined strategies are still effective.
  • Perform customer due diligence and KYC/KYB checks.
