We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Linux Engineer to join our clients dynamic team in Herndon VA.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 11 years of experience in Linux administration and engineering with expertise in Red Hat and its derivatives including CentOS RHEL and RockyOS.
Bachelors or Masters degrees are preferred along with a strong background in shell scripting Linux commandline manipulation and engineering infrastructure support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform systems engineering and software development in multiple large enterprise server environments with a focus on Linux Red Hat and CentOS.
- Provide technical guidance in software engineering techniques and automated support tools.
- Analyze functional business applications and design specifications for functional activities.
- Prepare comprehensive documentation at both programlevel and userlevel.
- Assist in establishing standards for information systems procedures.
- Conduct technical evaluations and analysis to support decisionmaking processes.
- Collaborate with technical leads to assess server loads and develop tuning recommendations.
- Fulfill operational duties including providing pager/phone duty support and completing daytoday Operations & Maintenance tasks.
- Perform operating system software updates upgrades and patches in accordance with best practices.
Requirements
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in Python Ruby Bash and PHP programming languages.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure.
- Familiarity with configuration management software including Ansible Puppet Manifests and Foreman.
- Knowledge of cloud computing models including PaaS IaaS and SaaS.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Kubernetes and OpenShift (CaaS).
- Understanding of the LAMP stack (Linux Apache MySQL PHP) and its deployment in enterprise environments.
Clearance Required:
- TS/SCI Full Scope Polygraph Required
