The Company is seeking a staff accountant to join its growing Internal Audit Department based in the US. specializes in construction of telephone cable broadcast water gas and electric power networks. The companies customers include major wind power gas water sewer telephone cell phone cable satellite and electric utility companies and government entities throughout the United States.
Responsibilities:
The Staff accountant will conduct operational financial and compliance audits and will perform independent testing of internal controls.
Responsibilities are to asssit in:
Prepare interview questions conduct interviews and process walkthroughs document interview and process walkthrough notes probe to identify key risks and controls evaluate competency of persons interviewed.
Identify key processes & subprocesses prepare process diagrams using MS Visio identify key controls in processes identify gaps in controls and write process narratives.
Identify risks and controls design tests of controls and prepare test plans and control matrices and perform analyses using MS Excel and MS Word.
Perform and document tests of controls.
Perform Inquiries with Project Managers and conclude on Adhoc Operational Audits with proposed action plans (e.g. Physical Units Testing Root Cause Analysis Process Implementations)
Perform Percentage of Completion (POC) and MSA (Master Service Agreement) construction project audits
Perform financial statement audits.
Perform information technology audits.
Develop written findings and recommendations for improvement.
Estimate business impacts from improvements in controls including risk avoidance indirect financial benefits and direct financial benefits.
Facilitate meetings and lead group discussions of results and action plans.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
Commerce graduate or construction estimating experience a plus.
Professional communication skills
Must be a selfstarter.
02 years public accounting experience.
Construction accounting experience (i.e. percentage of completion accounting) preferred but not required.
Familiar with U.S. GAAP IFRS COSO International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and COBIT (Control Objectives for Information Technology) is a plus
Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills along with quick learner.

Staff accountant will have contact with management and staff at all levels of the company and will have the opportunity to move to a variety of operating or finance roles after serving in the Internal Audit function.
