Junior Accounting Clerk required:

An organized ambitious and eager individual ready and willing to learn new skills and who is a team player required by a Chartered Accountant (SA) and Tax Practitioner firm based in Milnerton Cape Town for a variety of administrative and clerical tasks.

Responsibilities include (training and supervision will be provided):

  • Preparation collation and compilation of schedules and reports from source documentation.
  • Reconciling bank statements on a monthly and annual basis using Pastel Accounting and Draft Worx.
  • Management of SARS efiling profiles and preparation of income tax and other tax returns.
  • General instructions working on SARS efiling profile for clients on queries and other SARS administration issues including but not limited to handle monthly PAYE VAT and other appropriate SARS functions.
  • General office correspondence tax filing and other administration tasks such as fielding phone calls reception and booking appointments with clients.
  • Any other tasks deemed necessary.
  • CIPC and company secretarial packages

Preferred requirements:

  • Attention to detail.
  • Exposure to Excel Word Microsoft Teams Pastel and/or similar packages.
  • Communication skills and interactions with clients and staff in a professional manner.
  • An undergraduate degree or diploma in accounting/tax with some work experience is advantageous.

The employee shall be given full instruction as to the handling of clients data including:

  • Instruction on all accounting and administration processing of clients financial records which includes work on Excel Pastel Accounting Sage and MS Word.
  • Assist with updating clients files relating to tax and general correspondence.
  • Assist with correspondence and preparation of documents letters and any other relevant administration duties.
  • Filing and general office administration including telephone duties where necessary.
  • Obtaining information and communicating with clients.
  • Preparation of schedules
  • Assisting in welcoming clients and preparation of teas and refreshments
  • Maintaining diary for client appointments.
  • Preparation and maintenance of attendance register for all staff.
  • Updating monthly accounting records journal adjustments completing trial balance balance sheet income statement and schedules to these reports on our computer system.
  • Analysing and preparation of relevant data for processing processing on Pastel/Sage to trial balance payroll statutory returns such as VAT (201 s) and PAYE (EMP201 s) returns and annual payroll reconciliation (IRP5/EMP501).
  • Draft Worx in preparation of financial statements and management accounts.
  • Ad hoc projects in respect of management of practice.
  • General and specific tax research/work.
  • Income tax returns and SARS efiling management.
  • Any other functions to be performed in an accounting environment not specified.

SARS/efiling:

Print SARS correspondence.

New efiling registration.

Case escalation by phone call (unresolved cases)

Register for Income tax.

Register representative.

Submit supporting documentation.

Verify bank details.

Maintain SARS registered details (RAV01)

Make an appointment (walk in video telephone)

Manage tax types and requests.

Manage access requests (request OTP)

Report new estate cases.

Research and general query calls to SARS.

Trusts document preparation

Trust beneficial ownership registers for Master portal

Appointing new trustee document preparation

Documents/reports for beneficial ownership for CC s & Pty s



Attention to detail. Exposure to Excel, Word, Microsoft Teams, Pastel, and/or similar packages. Communication skills and interactions with clients and staff in a professional manner. An undergraduate degree or diploma in accounting/tax with some work experience is advantageous.
