Job description:

The Housing Development Coordinator will play a pivotal role in accelerating housing development within the Municipality. This role involves coordinating various identified actions to support the issuance of 73 new building permits by December 2026. The coordinator will work closely with stakeholders including potential developers the client community organizations and funding agencies to facilitate the development of targeted housing opportunities while ensuring adherence to affordability requirements and addressing related issues.

Responsibilities:

Housing Development:

  • Identify and assess three housing opportunities crafting tailored RFQ packages for mixeduse and residential developers including site selection planning design and cost estimates.
  • Engage potential developers actively promoting the opportunities facilitating discussions and managing inquiries to foster interest and investment in the Municipalitys housing projects.
  • Lead the advancement of targeted housing initiatives by overseeing developer engagement supporting development activities and ensuring compliance for efficient permit acquisition.

Foundational Support to Housing Development:

  • Conduct detailed market analysis to determine housing demand and housing preferences.
  • Determine housing affordability requirements.
  • Establish with the Municipal Council the necessary incentives to meet the target of three housing projects.
  • Work with Council and other consultants to address related issues such as infrastructure improvements.

Management and Reporting:

  • Develop and manage budgets for the initiatives ensuring optimal utilization of funds.
  • Foster effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders including government bodies community organizations and funding agencies.
  • Reporting: Generate regular reports on the progress challenges and outcomes of the initiatives keeping stakeholders informed. This includes attending meetings with the CMHC.

Qualification:

  • Bachelors degree in Urban Planning Real Estate Development Housing Policy or a related field.
  • Knowledge of housing development principles land use planning and zoning regulations.
  • Strong understanding of housing affordability issues and strategies.
  • Experience in conducting market analysis and assessing housing demand.
  • Familiarity with municipal government processes and procedures related to housing development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders effectively.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets coordinate projects and drive collaborative efforts among stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in generating and presenting reports to stakeholders including government agencies and community organizations.
  • Experience in working with funding agencies such as the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to oversee multiple housing initiatives concurrently.
