Job Description

The Technical Head is responsible for optimal utilization of any plants /machinery/equipment. He is also responsible for the identification and implementation of new technical designs in accordance with modern maintenance standards.

  • Availability of utilities services (Water Electricity Ice Banks Compressed air & Steam etc.)
  • Machinery Plant and Equipment performance efficiency.
  • Support Strategic Business Units and liaise with vendors on service and maintenance of vehicles & trucks
  • Develop review and implement the departments operations reengineering to ensure that the operations are lean effective efficient and bring value to the organization.
  • Oversee daytoday implementation of strategies and operations of the department. This can be done through supervision coaching and feedback mechanism.
  • Break down the overall corporate strategy into specific and achievable tasks and assign such tasks to various roles in the department.
  • Develop and Ensure Compliance to planned maintenance schedules.
  • Compliance to SOPs & departmental operation process/Procedures.
  • Establish and execute a performance measurement system to evaluate the effective and efficient utilization of plant and machinery.
  • Train guide and mentor technical staff in their daytoday functions.
  • To always have the plants maintenance meeting weekly with all the technical officers (supervisors and other managers) on the plant s issues and the way forward to give their best approach that will enhance effective results with a view to achieving preventive maintenance of plants and machinery.
  • Prepare reports (weekly monthly quarterly or as may be required by management) to the COO/CEO on asset acquisition usage maintenance or disposal as it regards technical inputs
  • To ensure implementation of any approved company policies as regards work process and procedures
  • Ensure all records of plants/machinery being operated by technical staff are properly kept.


Requirements

  • Minimum of graduate education degree in Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline.
  • Relevant postgraduate degrees would be an added advantage. (e.g COREN NSE CQE & CMfgE).
  • Management certification required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in handson mechanical/electrical engineering preferable in an agriculture plant food processing industry with heavy weight equipment.
  • Sound knowledge in electrical testing design mechanical production technologies electrical systems technical management developing budgets.
  • Basic safety quality focus process improvement and good leadership skills are highly required.
  • Excellent Computer/Technical Skills.
  • Excellent communication Skills
  • Good handson experience on the ERP application Relationship Management
  • Good knowledge of Assets Structure.
  • Ability to work in a highpressure deadlinedriven environment
  • Exceptional communication and reporting skills.
  • Solid working knowledge in all required software and programming languages.
  • Outstanding leadership skills and ability to delegate responsibilities effectively.
