About the School

Established in 2016 this K12 international school is situated at the base of the scenic and historic YuQuan Mountain in Haidian District Beijing. Spanning 200000 square meters the campus features enchanting gardens that seamlessly blend natural ecology cultural richness and contemporary aesthetics.

The School is organized into the Primary School grades K5 the Middle School grades 68 and high school grades 912. Under the guidance of the Ministry of Educations nineyear compulsory education program KWAs curriculum is built on strength from both Chinese and western education. For Primary and Middle School they follow a bilingual program using the US Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards along with the Chinese National Curriculum. For High School they follow the US Common Core and College Board AP curriculum and also offer the UK IGCSE and ALevel UK programs.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Science to lead our Middle and High School Science Department. The ideal candidate will be passionate about inspiring a love of science in young learners and will have a proven track record of academic leadership and curriculum development. This role requires a dynamic individual who can foster excellence in science education promote innovative teaching practices and ensure our students are prepared for the scientific challenges of the future.

Key Responsibilities:

• Curriculum Development & Implementation: Oversee the planning development and implementation of a comprehensive science curriculum that is engaging challenging and appropriate for middle and high school students. Ensure the curriculum meets international standards and prepares students for higher education and careers in science.
• Leadership & Team Management: Lead inspire and manage the Science Department fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. Provide professional development opportunities mentorship and guidance to science teachers.
• Innovation in Science Education: Stay abreast of the latest developments in science education and integrate innovative teaching methods technologies and resources into the curriculum.
• Student Achievement & Assessment: Monitor and evaluate student progress and achievement in science. Implement strategies to support students who are struggling and challenge those who are excelling.
• Community Engagement & Partnerships: Build partnerships with external organizations universities and research institutions to enhance the science program. Promote science education within the school community and beyond.
• Resource Management: Manage the departments resources effectively including budgeting procurement of materials and equipment and maintenance of science laboratories.

Requirements:

• A Masters degree in Science Education Science or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in middle and/or high school science with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
• Recognised National/State teaching qualification/license NOT TEFL/TESOL
• Excellent knowledge of the latest trends and best practices in science education.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Fluency in English is mandatory.
• Experience in an international educational environment is highly desirable.
