About Kamloops Canoe Kayak Club:
KCKC is a not-for-profit paddling club located at Shumway Lake, 15 minutes outside of Kamloops, and home of the 1993 Canada Summer Located at the Kamloops Water Sports Facility, the location is shared with the Kamloops Rowing Club and Kamloops Water Ski
Established in 1990, KCKC serves the Kamloops region in the sport of paddling (specifically sprint canoe and kayak, dragon boating and SUP) while promoting the sport in a fun, friendly and safe KCKC offers programming to over 1000 youth per year and with a commitment to high performance excellence, KCKC has produced athletes competitive at the national and international

General Description:
Kamloops Canoe and Kayak Club is hiring a Head The Head Coach is a year-round full-time position which supports the club at all levels of programming and coaching such as Performance and Development Sprint Competitive team, Youth Recreational Development programs and ALL Paddling and Aquatic components of the
The Head Coach will determine programming for all groups including, but not limited to Performance and Development year-round training, Kids and Youth spring school programs, Youth summer programs, off-season developmental programming and other Paddling
The successful candidate will take a lead role in the development, implementation and evaluation of all these As a mentor to athletes, the HC s coaching and development strategy, goals and objectives should be in line with the athletes and the organization s long term

Expectations:
Average work week is expected to be 40 hrs/ week, although it is understood the hours of work for the position will vary depending on the time of year with more hours in the peak season of July and August, with fewer hours during the off-season
Increased attendance in the summer is expected in order to provide oversight for the competitive season as well as summer programming
Hours will be varied and will include early morning, daytime and evening hours
Attendance at regattas (in which Club athletes are participating) is mandatory
Follow, model and ensure compliance with all required policies including but not limited to all CKC policies including the Safe Sport Policy, all CKBC policies including Cold Water Policy, all KCKC By-laws and Policies as well as BOD requirements
Other duties as required

Skills and Qualifications
NCCP Certification or equivalent (ICF Certification is accepted) preferred
Coaching Experience
Make Ethical Decision NCCP Certified
Canoe Kids Course or higher
Safe Sport Training NCCP Certified
Ability to work independently in an unsupervised environment
Hold a Canadian Coast Guard Pleasure Craft Operators Certificate (Required prior to Employment)
First Aid (Required Prior to Employment)
Criminal Background and Vulnerable Sector Check
Experience with or comfort with pulling and maneuvering boat trailers
Must be physically fit and able to lift 60 lbs

The KCKC Head Coach will:
Be responsive to individual athlete needs and feedback;
Follow and enforce KCKC Safe Sport practices;
Follow and enforce all KCKC club policies;
Follow direction and feedback from BOD
Be a role model and recognize the impact you have both off and on the water to the paddlers growth as athletes and individuals;
Willing to speak on behalf of the club to the media and in a promotional capacity
Be an independent worker, a self starter, and take initiative when needed towards athlete and club development;
Lead the club in areas of recreational and school programming on the regular basis
Be passionate about mental and emotional well-being in addition to the physical aspects of an athletes growth and development;
Be a passionate learner and are committed to your own growth and skill development;
Be able to manage and when needed enforce disciplinary measures with athletes;
Ensure the paddling environment and group activities are positive, safe, healthy, and fun;
Manage and maintain equipment on a regular basis;
Monitor and evaluate the progress of individual athletes:
Communicate effectively and in a positive manner with co-workers, parents and club participants;
Be flexible in adapting your experience and methods to the overall program philosophies and introducing new ones when deemed beneficial;
MUST be flexible and have the ability to accommodate to a changing environment
Have a strong understanding of requirements to create a quality daily training environment for
