Assist in the implementation of forest activities particularly timber harvest preparation and forest restoration activities in order to achieve the forest management goals and objectives for the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs.
Requirements
Associate s degree of science in forestry; or two years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Combination of education and related job experience or a program of onthejob training leading to sufficient knowledge skills and abilities to perform essential core job duties. Knowledge of tree species and an understanding of silvicultural terminology and concepts sufficient to implement marking guides for various forest activities. Knowledge of forest tree diseases insects and other defect indicators sufficient to implement silvicultural prescriptions. Knowledge of IRMP and FMIP sufficient to recognize the conditions that need special protection measures and the ability to implement them on the ground. Aerial photo and map skills sufficient to locate/mark forest activity boundaries on the ground. Knowledge of legal descriptions (GLO) sufficient to locate and plot survey corners survey lines and other property designations unique to the reservation (exampleallotments reservation boundary). GPS skills sufficient to survey forest activity boundaries download data and calculate acreages. Skill in timber cruising; installation of temporary plots variable plot cruising and other plot layouts (examplevegetation/fuel transects). Skill in the use of forest equipment (exampleRelaskop field data recorders hand compass) and field procedures (examplepacing). Knowledge of wildfire operations sufficient to safely carry out duties associated with incumbents level of qualifications. Skill in the operation of chain sawsminimum class A certification. Skill in the safe operation and maintenance of tools/equipment needed to implement forest activities.
