JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage a Finance Team with a clear reporting structure
Set clear objectives and KPIs for the Finance Team guide and monitor the Team towards
achieving the objectives and KPIs
Develop the Finance Team s technical skills such as accounting and financial reporting internal
control tax and regulatory compliance proper documentation and filing etc and other skills such
as communication teamwork and management skills etc.
Ensure organization comply with local rules and regulations including but not limited to the filing
of financial statements and tax submission.
Support the management as a business partner in providing financial information and analysis to
support decision making
Drive forecasting and budgeting process to drive the various departments towards achieving
corporate objectives
Formulate and monitor budget periodically and perform variance analysis to advise the
Management on corrective actions if needed
Proactively manage the cash flow needs of the business liaise with banks for guarantees and
other facilities as needed.
Liaise with relevant departments within Company and relevant Principal departments to ensure
optimal working capital deployed for the business.
Actively participate in ERP implementation/improvements
Adhering to SOPs/develop new SOPs as and when needed for better control and reporting
Sourcing forex as and when needed for principal to ensure all USD payments are made in time
and no delay of payments due to USD non availability
Strict adherence to tax and other laws and ensuring all statutory payments are made in time.
Ensuring tax audits ((LIRS/FIRS) are concluded in time with minimum exposure to agency and
principal.
Controlling cost and ensure zero leakages in admin and other areas.
Ensuring that all monthly MIS are prepared in time.
Regular meetings with banks to keep abreast about new developments and getting maximum
benefit towards interest/forex sourcing etc.
Requirements
a) At least 1015 years of relevant Finance experience preferably in shipping businesses.
b) Professional qualification like CA/CPA or equivalent
c) Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
d) Ability to work independently in a new setup
e) Experience in Principal/Agency accounting
f) Strong in accounting standards internal controls and procedures
g) Proficient in Microsoft Excel
h) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills fluent in both verbal and written English
i) Ability to work under pressure
j) Team player trustworthy selfmotivated and hardworking.
k) Ability to set up new business processes and to drive process improvements
l) Working knowledge of ERP is a must
m) African experience (Nigeria) is preferred.
n) Knowledge of tax laws/transfer pricing.
