The Role of the Finance Assistant

To carry out daily transactional finance tasks underpinning the finance function under the guidance of the AP Supervisor.

Key Accountabilities

Accounts Payable

  • Daily responsibility for invoice and purchase order support and processing.
  • Schedule weekly payments in accounting system and bank based on due date.
  • Assist with new supplier creation checks including verification of bank and contact details.
  • Weekly detailed tasks required to support across the AP/AR and transactional accounting areas.
  • Training wider business on finance systems.
  • Review and approve employee expenses.

Other Duties

  • Maintenance of master supplier list direct debit and standing order lists.
  • Consistent update of player accommodation document and associated suppliers.
  • Answer general finance department calls/emails and respond or direct to the relevant member of the team.
  • Completion of basic balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ad hoc finance department tasks such as mail distribution banking and contract reviews.
  • Statement reconciliations.

General Club Accountabilities

  • To ensure compliance with all relevant Club policies including health and safety policies.
  • To ensure compliance with all relevant legal regulatory ethical and social requirements.
  • To build and maintain good working relationships both internally and externally.
  • To keep confidential any information gained regarding the Club and its personnel.
  • To always maintain a flexible approach to work.
  • To ensure compliance with the Clubs Code of Conduct.
  • To ensure compliance with the Clubs Safeguarding Policy and processes.

Person Specification Essential Personal Characteristics

  • Awareness of month end procedures and the purpose of these.
  • Team working skills are essential.
  • Basic Microsoft Office knowledge.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fastpaced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm.

Person Specification Desirable Characteristics

  • Familiarity with the purchasing process.
  • An interest in sport/football.
  • Be able to plan and organise both familiar and new tasks (proactive mindset).
  • Able to use problem solving approach to respond appropriately to a wide range of enquiries.
  • Flexible approach to work (teamwork is key).
