OBJECTIVE: Provides detailed auditable estimates by analyzing all bidding documents to arrive at the most accurate estimate of the likely cost consistent with the bidding time available the completeness and accuracy of the bidding documents and the companys available cost data. Analyzes blueprints specifications proposals reports pictures and other material to create time cost and labor estimates for goods projects or services by executing the tasks listed below. Creates CPM schedules for projects. Includes comprehensive costs for materials equipment labor subcontractors and other jobrelated expenses. Exports purchase orders from an estimate using Sage 100. Initial subcontract scopes of work are written to be attached or included in subcontracts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Examines data like as plans specifications reports and images to assess material and labor needs and create itemized lists.

Use quantitative tools to investigate costinfluencing factors.

Conducts specific research to produce and establish standard hour and cost data in order to determine whether to do work with own troops or outsource it.

Estimate specialist work and compare it to subcontractor bids to see if the cost is appropriate.

Measures areas of structures and facilities to determine work scope if no plans exist or if plans do not offer needed dimensions; obtains those dimensions.

Calculates cost elements and creates precise estimates for management reasons such as job planning organization and scheduling bid preparation subcontractor selection and cost effectiveness determination.

Conducts unique investigations to produce and establish standard hours and cost data in order to save costs.

Consults with clients architects engineers designers draftspeople project managers and others to discuss and develop estimates as well as resolve concerns.

Set competitive hourly wages for trade workers including all taxes and benefits.

Examines the estimates compiled by other estimators recommending or making any changes thought necessary before presenting to management for evaluation.

Expertise in interpreting requirement data to provide material and cost estimates for major projects.

Analyzing documentation specifications and project plans to acquire a comprehensive grasp of the project.

Determining which manufacturing parameters impact the cost of a service or product. Developing material and cost estimates for the product or service.

Creating detailed labor estimates for any project

Developing and sustaining ties with the companys vendors and contractors Manage bids from vendors and contractors.

Using bid data to create a complete cost analysis.

Providing prepared estimates to management and other stakeholders. Reviewing real cost data to compare to predicted expenses using Sage 100.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: HIERARCHY:

Works directly with Project Manager or Operations Assistant in the preparation of bid documents. Answers to and receives instructions from Project Manager or President.

AUTHORITATIVE ACTIONS: Ability to make decisions without the necessity of obtaining approval from a superior. Authority may be delegated to others.

Communicating with subcontractors and suppliers.

Obtaining prices

Requesting bidding clarifications from the designer to be addressed by addenda.

Work with inhouse architects and engineers to assist with design decisions by assembling various means of cost for design decisions to be made.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The accountability of a supervisor for an assigned function or duty. Specific tasks may be delegated although the supervisor still remains responsible and accountable for the function or duty.

Obtaining material equipment labor cost.

Obtaining Subcontract quotations.

B. Assisting with Preparation of Proposal and becoming familiar with pricing requirements on bids.

D. Bills of materials and subcontractors.

May manages 01 subordinate estimator in the Estimating Department. Is responsible for the overall direction coordination and evaluation of this unit.

Carry out supervisory tasks in line with the organizations rules and applicable legislation. Assisting in interviewing employing and training personnel; planning allocating and directing work; assessing performance; rewarding and punishing employees; and dealing with complaints and difficulties.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To do this work successfully a person must be able to complete each key responsibility adequately. The qualifications given below indicate the knowledge skill and/or ability necessary. Reasonable accommodations can be given to allow people with disabilities to perform important duties.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Preferably a B.S. Degree Preferably Construction Engineering Technology with at least

5 years of field experience and at least 15 years of estimating experience. Must understand the numerous construction methods used in commercial institutional religious medical construction and restoration and commercial insurance repairs. Must be able to do precise quantity takeoffs on itemized material equipment and labor in the key CSI categories for works worth up to $.00. Must be familiar with computerized and digital takeoff/estimating systems. Report writing and strategy planning abilities.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Capability to read evaluate and comprehend general business publications professional journals technical processes and government regulations. Ability to prepare reports and commercial letters. Capability to successfully deliver information and answer questions from groups of management clients consumers and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to deal with mathematical concepts including probability and statistical inference as well as the principles of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. The ability to apply ideas like fractions percentages ratios and proportions to realworld circumstances. Excellent analytical ability and attention to detail.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to address practical issues and cope with a wide range of concrete factors in conditions with limited uniformity. The ability to understand a range of directions provided in written oral visual or timetable format. Experience with analytic tools such as spreadsheets and database managers.

The employee must routinely lift and/or move up to ten pounds while sometimes lifting and/or moving up to twentyfive pounds. This work requires certain visual qualities such as near vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the capacity to focus.
