Job Summary

Specific duties include:

  • Monitoring and trending of electrical system health
  • Preparation of engineering technical evaluations
  • Development of maintenance strategies and corrective action plans and supporting development of design change documentation.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned
  • The candidate will work in a broad range of Electrical Power and I&C issues both on the component and system level.
  • Candidates will be expected to have familiarity with nuclear power plant design including the Electrical Distribution System and or the Instrumentation and Control Systems at the station.
  • A Training program will be provided for the new candidate to obtain a required basic level of knowledge for understanding plant design basis operations maintenances as well as work planning structure including normal and emergency operating procedures.

Engineer II/Engineering Technical Specialist II candidates will be expected to lead small crossfunctional groups in solving system problems and planning for future equipment reliability. They are expected to be able to work with minimal supervisor direction.

Required Knowledge Skills Abilities & Experience

  • Engineer II/Engineering Technical Specialist II: 3 years of relevant engineering experience;
  • Knowledge and application of engineering theories and principles concepts and fundamentals;
  • Requires developmental experience in a professional engineering position;
  • Competency in applying engineering principles fundamental concepts practices and procedures requiring some evaluation originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives;
  • Understands and can apply knowledge of configuration management;
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. MATLAB Excel etc.);
  • Planning organizational and project management skills;
  • Ability to develop and exercise leadership skills;
  • Effective decision making skills;
  • Effective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing);
  • Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems;
  • Ability to interpret codes regulations and practices;
  • Equally effective working independently or in a team environment;
  • Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.

For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series the following criteria must be met:

Possess a 4year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET OR Possess a 4year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the countrys own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory and is a degree that was recognized by the countrys accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved OR Possess a 4year degree in Engineering (nonABET accredited) Physics Chemistry Math or Engineering Technology and a postgraduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABETaccredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET OR Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.

Education Requirements

Required degree (equivalency not accepted in lieu of required degree):

  • Bachelor
  • Required discipline(s): Engineering Electrical preferred
  • Engineering Technical Specialist can hold a BS Degree in another technical field OR additional relevant engineering experience.

Additional Notes:

  • Our Client is currently seeking experienced engineers for the Electrical and I&C Systems department in Site Engineering at the Millstone Power Station in Waterford CT. There are two positions available.
  • Positions will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidates education experience knowledge skills and abilities.
  • The candidate will fill a position in the Electrical and I&C System Engineering Group.
  • The primary area of focus will be electrical systems engineering in support of operating Millstone Units 2 & 3.
  • Engineer III/Engineering Technical Specialist III candidates will be expected to lead larger multidiscipline groups in solving system problems and planning for future equipment reliability. They are expected to be able to work independently on assigned tasks. This specific position may lead special efforts to improve and sustain equipment reliability.
  • Engineer III/Engineering Technical Specialist III: 5 years of relevant engineering experience

Note: A partial year of work experience of 6 months or greater will count as one year toward the required years of experience. A Masters degree will count as one year toward the years of experience. Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3 W1 or O1 plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined above are encouraged to apply.
