Our client is a NewSpace startupthat provides a flexible ondemand highresolution Earth observation service by operating a fleet of stratospheric balloons in France. These lightweight inflatable balloons filled with either dihydrogen or helium float at 20km altitude and can observe an area of 40km x 40km at a ground resolution of 10cm
The Role
We offer you the opportunity to become the engineer in charge of designing a stratospheric acquisition system. This gondola includes an optronic system that will be suspended under a stratospheric balloon floating at 20km altitude. The purpose of the system is to collect ground images with a resolution of 10cm from high altitude. Your mission is to take charge of the design of the system with all its components (optics power data chain onboard computer controls )
How will you spend your day
Interacting with different research organizations and industrial consultants on specialized topics (optics mechanics)
We offer you the opportunity to become the engineer in charge of designing a stratospheric acquisition system. This gondola integrates an optronic system that will be suspended under a stratospheric balloon floating at 20km altitude
Your mission is to take charge of the design of the system with all its components (optics power data chain onboard computer controls)
Assembling and independently testing the different functional subbricks of the gondola (prototyping 3D printing electronic design and component welding)
Organizing the schedule of field test campaigns.
Making technical design and architecture decisions for the gondola and taking responsibility for them.
Analysing the impact of technical choices on the budget (R&D and production) to minimize costs and maintain a frugal philosophy
Setting up the algorithmic data management pipeline downstream (from recovery to implementation of standard treatments for expected GIS: orthorectification georeferencing colour correction)
You
Strong skills in embedded systems design electronics and programming.
Strong interest in entrepreneurship and active participation in the evolution of a company.
Experience in managing complex and multidisciplinary technical projects (optics telecom mechanics electrical architecture and lowlevel programming etc.)
Ability to work independently with a strong capacity for adaptation and innovation.
Excellent mastery of technical English for reading documentation and international communication.
Professional French Language is mandatory
Your Career Growth
The goal is to gradually delegate all design responsibilities for the different versions of the system to you. Eventually you will be able to characterize the challenges.
Upstream identify the necessary resources to solve them.
As a manager who has been involved in the design of the system from the beginning you will be required in the coming years to lead the entire team of engineers and technicians who will build future versions of the system. It is therefore important that you envision yourself in this future role and that you have the ambition to develop your leadership.
What we offer you:
Working on a very ambitious project with a lot of autonomy and responsibilities in technical decisions.
Being part of an exciting human and professional adventure.
Being part of the founding team of an ambitious earlystage startup.
Permanent contract with a 6month probation period.
