Director of Pharmacy

The Director of Pharmacy plays a critical role in leading and managing pharmacy services across a diverse range of departments including Adult Childrens Heart and Vascular Cancer Center Infusion Center and outpatient pharmacy services. In this leadership capacity you will be entrusted with the responsibility of providing strategic direction and operational oversight to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of pharmaceutical services within the organization. Your role will involve collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement strategies aimed at optimizing pharmacy services and enhancing patient care outcomes. You will be responsible for setting clear objectives establishing quality standards and implementing best practices to uphold the highest levels of patient safety and satisfaction. Additionally as the Director of Pharmacy you will be tasked with fostering a culture of excellence within the pharmacy department promoting professional development opportunities for staff and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. You will serve as a key liaison between pharmacy staff healthcare providers and other stakeholders facilitating effective communication and collaboration to achieve shared goals.

Responsibilities:

1. Evaluate operations on an ongoing basis utilizing continuous process improvement principles and develop action plans to improve efficiency.
2. Ensures the competent delivery of pharmaceutical services to inpatients and outpatients addressing the needs and age of the patient.
3. Identifies staffing needs selects trains mentors evaluates and counsels staff as appropriate.
4. Establishes scope of services and develops annual implementation plans aligned with organizational strategic objectives.
5. Prepares annual budget controls costs forecasts operational needs and reviews expenditures to ensure budget limits are not exceeded.
6. Serves as a positive role model to staff ensuring that customer service is a priority.
7. Remains visible and accessible to physicians seeking input and feedback on services and policy/procedure changes.
8. Stays uptodate on new developments in healthcare and incorporates innovative systems of delivery while complying with regulatory and licensing agencies.
9. Participates in hospital quality improvement teams and committees as assigned.
10. Ensures safe care to patients staff and visitors adhering to all Memorial Hermann policies and procedures.
11. Promotes individual professional growth and development and serves as a preceptor mentor and resource to less experienced staff.

Qualifications:

• Doctorate degree in Pharmacy
• Pharmacy leadership experience within a healthcare organization preferably in an academic medical center.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Director/Regional Director or similar role in an Inpatient Pharmacy in a hospital setting.
• Experience with strategic planning quality improvement and costsaving initiatives.
• Licensed by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
• Ability to solve problems establish trust and credibility and deal effectively with change.
