The Position DevOps Cloud Engineer

The Cloud Services Management (CSM) team is seeking an experienced DevOps Cloud Engineer who thrives working in a fastpaced stateoftheart public cloud environment. The role principally focused on AWS infrastructure is blend of clientcentric project delivery level2operational technical support and continuous service improvement through automation and selfservices tool provisioning.

The CSM team is accountable for the operational excellence of the C&R cloud platform which hosts several businesscritical clientfacing applications. The position requires a solid background in AWS core services network connectivity cyber security practices Linux scripting monitoring tools 3rd party IDP integration vendor managed services application stacks and familiarity with Site

Reliability & Engineering (SRE) and ITIL frameworks. The successful candidate is expected to help identify opportunities for improvement and optimisation of BAU processes and lead initiatives to reduce technical debt cost and increase efficiency.

They are expected to work closely with internal technical regional and global teams clientdelivery centric Professional Services teams AWS vendors and occasionally directly with clients both on a project/programme and BAU support footing.

Primary Responsibilities

Act as the bridge between the product development and level 1 operations/support teams ensuring continuity of service ongoing continuous improvement and technical excellence to facilitate both a fast & efficient product evolution cycle and outstanding client experience outcomes.

Working in a crossfunctional capacity across multiple teams identify and drive to closure any operational gaps with a particular focus on metrics automation cost/risk performance reliability and cloud bestpractices.

Work closely with Project Managers and Scrum Masters to compile estimate prioritise and deliver internal and external technical project requirements.

Working on a shift basis as level 2/3 support to own incidents escalated within defined SLAs.

Define and document standard run books and operating procedures. Create and maintain

system information and architecture diagrams.

Accountability for performing periodic release deployments across Dev CQA and Production environments with appropriate rigour within clientcontracted maintenance windows.

Qualifications Skills & Experience

Bachelors degree in CS or equivalent with 7 years of professional experience ideally gained within a financial services industry environment

5 years of handson experience as a DevOps Engineer within Java based application stacks operating in AWS environment (ideally with AWS certification)

Java Application Development/Support experience will be an advantage

Experience of AWS network constructs (VPC Security Groups Route Tables Firewalls) secure network connectivity mechanisms (VPN Zero Trust Proxies etc.) and troubleshooting

Experience of leveraging scripting languages (e.g. Shell Perl Python Ruby) and CI/CD tools (Terraform and CloudFormation) for BAU support task automation and environment/release management

Indepth experience of Linux environments (Red Hat) developer/administrator level

Understanding of development methodologies including Scrum Agile Kanban and test driven development and toolsets (Jira Confluence Jenkins Puppet) and interfacing with Product Development Architecture and Engineering teams

Experience with support of service request release management incident resolution root cause analysis and change management processes within a Development and/or Production environment

Strong written and verbal communication skills. Has helped to develop documentation of technical processes workflows processes procedures and run books.

Knowledge of industry cyber security principles vulnerability remediation practices and secrets management

Proven ability to strategically analyse the risks benefits and opportunities associated with a solution

Working knowledge of database tiers/concepts SQL and interfacing with DB Ops/Engineering teams ideally within an AWS Postgres Aurora/RDS environment

Familiarity with Kubernetes infrastructure as code containers container orchestration technologies and cluster/server load balancing.
