3. JOB PURPOSE
Data Analysts are responsible for a range of datarelated activities including provision of data extracts and data transformation solutions for the company. Using specialist tools the role is responsible for building and the delivery of the solution.
The Data Analyst is required to engage with stakeholders (both internal and external) so good communication skills underpin everything we do. Due to the nature of working with Data the role is required to follow specified processes
4. JOB DESCRIPTION:
Key Accountabilities:
- Collaborate with colleagues to understand clarify and refine both functional and nonfunctional requirements for all assigned work
Develop code and complete unit/integration tests to ensure delivery of high quality fitforpurpose solutions
Investigate data issues as required working with colleagues to understand causes and suggest fixes as quickly as possible and where necessary participate in root cause analyses to identify practical longterm improvements
Provide regular progress reports to Line Manager Project Managers and other key stakeholders
Maintain effective documentation for all software developed and share expertise with colleagues to share knowledge across the whole team
Provide cover for all BAU Data Solutions activities.
Routinely review BAU processes to ensure they are required current and fit for purpose.
Risk Management:
Champion a culture of strong internal control and risk management within the Data Solutions team
Be aware of requirements for transmission of PAN and PII data in order to advise stakeholders of best practice
Escalate any control deficiencies or risks noticed
Comply with all company policies and procedures
Comply with all regulatory procedures applicable to the role
Report any information security incident weakness or malfunction
5. REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Essential
- Strong RDMS Oracle and/or ANSI SQL skills
- Experience with an industrystandard ETL tool e.g. SSIS Talend Open Studio DataFlux Data Management Studio etc.
Demonstrable analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good documentation / report writing skills
Structured approach with a high attention to detail
- Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Positive confident attitude and enthusiastic selfstarter with a can do attitude
- Team player dynamic and adaptable to changing situations
- Proactive shows initiative takes ownership to deliver on commitments
Desirable
- Exposure to SAS DataFlux Data Management Studio
- Experience with Power BI
- Some knowledge of data warehousing
- Informatica PowerCenter
- Apache Airflow
- Oracle Data Integrator (ODI)
- Azure Data Factory
- Exposure to Agile Software Development methodology
- Knowledge of version controlling using Stash/Bitbucket
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Essential
- Recent experience of working well under pressure to tight deadlines and handling more than one piece of work at a time
- Current experience with Oracle and/or ANSI SQL
- Experience of working with business representatives to clarify and document requirements
Desirable
- Experience working within financial services insurance or customer assistance industries
- Experience with other SQL variants (e.g. PostgreSQL SQL Server etc.)
- Experience in business report building
- Working knowledge of payment processing regulations (PCIDSS) and security standards (ISO27001)
