Datacenter RunOps Network Repair team and is responsible for supporting all production network cabling in the Datacenter. Job Duties And Responsibilities
Directly support and complete all scheduled data center MACs (Moves/Adds/Changes)
Hardware installation MACs, including device labeling, power connectivity and network cable connectivity
Complete hardware support work orders involving: hardware and cabling MACs, certification, troubleshooting and break-fix
Asset management, auditing and daily work log/ticket tracking
Provide smart-hands assistance as required within specified SLA response times (on-call duties may apply)
Maintain a safe and secure operating environment within the data center and report any violations to their immediate supervisor
Detailed and thorough documentation and record keeping
Maintain site security protocols, badging requirements and data protection procedures
Ensure all media storage devices (Hard drives, thumb drives, CD/DVD s, etc.) are properly logged, secured and documented to ensure compliance with retention practices
Strong working knowledge with network hardware/components, copper and fiber infrastructure installation and testing, data center productivity and support tools, applications and software (Windows, Linux, SSH, RDP, Putty, etc.), and datacenter infrastructure management (DCIM) related tools
Coordinate equipment/material receiving, shipping and RMA processing support as/when required
Provide vendor and security escorts as needed
Provide general cleaning on floor, cabinet/rack exterior surfaces, work benches and other areas as needed on a regular basis
Support standard and emergency operating procedures for data center.
Provide status reporting regarding Data Center service availability, performance, capacity utilization as required
Daily error log reporting and physical DC inspections for general health, power, cooling, hazards, etc.
Coordinates equipment installation and delivery schedules in accordance with set project plans
On-Call duties as needed

2+ years working in data centers, operations or related technical field
General knowledge of server/network equipment and software support configurations
Basic understanding of AC/DC power principles, data center power distribution and data center best practices
Strong aptitude for independent working environment and high productivity rate
Must be able to act as the company liaison for interface with customer representative(s)
Must possess proven problem solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s)
Must be able to work at heights, off of a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds
Must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones
Excellent communication and customer relationship skills
Education, Certification, License, And Skill Requirements
Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency
(2) years minimum of data center experience
Any server, OS, Network or data center certifications are a plus
Job Duties And Responsibilities
Cabling & Termination
The Fiber Technician must have basic copper termination skills
The Fiber Technician will mount and install racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware. Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required.
The Fiber Technician performs testing: continuity test horizontal and riser cable; use of volt-ohmmeter; troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cable; use a tone set.
The Fiber Technician installs LC, SC, ST, FC, FDDI, SMA and MPO/MTP connectors, for both multi-mode & single-mode fiber
The Fiber Technician will terminate simplex & duplex jumper cord
The Fiber Technician will terminate & breakout outside plant fiber
The Fiber Technician will terminate indoor tight buffered multimode and single-mode fiber
The Fiber Technician will install fan out kits including buffer tube
The Fiber Technician will calculate end to end loss budgets in accordance with TIA/EIA standards for multimode & single-mode fiber
The Fiber Technician will fully complete all paperwork accurately and on time specifically: timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and others as required
The Fiber Technician will complete any other duties as assigned
Testing
The Fiber Technician will test using an OTDR, Fluke & EFXO
The Fiber Technician troubleshoots using an OTDR to identify and correct problems end to end, and Network wide
Splicing
The Fiber Technician will perform mechanical splicing with all types of fiber cable
The Fiber Technician will perform fusion splicing with all types of fiber cable
The Fiber Technician performs building entrance splices, maintenance space, and direct buried splices
Physical and Mental Requirements:

Must be able to use the following trade Tools: Screwdriver (regular and Phillips), torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), pliers (needle nose and channel locks), hammer, wrench set, cable stripper, flashlight and gloves. Punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, tone set, 6/8 position combo crimp tool, and Krone/3M/BIX.

Lead Fiber Technician will consistently run major project crews; assume responsibility for effective performance and provide necessary training; assume responsibility for adherence to Company and customer safety and quality guidelines and hold weekly safety meetings; initiate performance related communications and escalate to Project Manager if necessary.
The Lead Fiber Technician coordinates with XFN teams to ensure productivity, job completion and compliance with project budget.
