Growing Chicago firm is looking to add a Construction Director to the team!


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee/manage the construction operations of our projects
  • Develop/implement our quality standards for construction operations to ensure projects are successfully executed
  • Collaborate with the Executive Team to define project goals, objectives, and timelines
  • Use technical expertise to evaluate and improve practices to enhance productivity and cost-effectiveness
  • Lead/supervise project teams (Project Managers, Superintendents, and other construction staff)
  • Improve/execute on accountability chart for staffing requirements and conduct measurements of KPIs
  • Guide/support the planning, scheduling, and coordination of construction activities
  • Ensure established goals/contractual obligations are met by closing monitoring project progress, budgets, and timelines
  • Conduct regular site visits/inspections to assess quality, safety, and compliance with regulations
  • Budgeting and Cost Control
  • Ensure company safety policies/procedures and OSHA regulations are followed
  • Mentor/train junior staff
  • Promote teamwork and open communication within the department
  • Conduct performance evaluations with accountability chart and provide constructive feedback to drive continuous improvement


Requirements:

  • BS or MS in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in construction management, with a focus on K-12 education, new construction renovation, and maintenance projects
  • Understanding of construction means/methods, scheduling, and planning concepts
  • Proficient in construction management software (E-Builder, Bluebeam/Adobe Acrobat, etc.)
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Project and other scheduling software to develop master schedules/individual project schedules
  • Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, estimating, and budget management
  • Ability to interpret project specifications/drawings accurately
  • Solid understanding of safety guidelines, regulations, and best practices


Salary is commensurate with experience.
