Overview:

The Compliance Manager Advisory & Data Protection Officers responsibility is to coordinate the banks (including Bank ABC B.S.C. London Branch) approach to the implementation of Data Protection controls and 2LOD oversight; in their joint capacity as Compliance Manager (Advisory) the individual will also support the Deputy Head of Regulatory Compliance in the development and operation of the Compliance Advisory team in line with bank policy and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities include the embedment and oversight of Data Protection provision of compliance advice and guidance to the business as well as regulatory reporting and undertaking periodic Quality Assurance.

The role is also expected to help further a bankwide culture of Compliance centered on awareness and understanding of Data Protection and Compliance risks and responsibilities in line with UK European US and Middle Eastern regulatory standards.

The individual is also required to maintain Compliance independence and objectivity in work undertaken and provide relevant Compliance assurance to Executive Management and the Board.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Designated Local Data Protection Coordinator with responsibility for the Compliance coordination of Data Protection controls implementation and 2LOD oversight ensuring policies and procedures remain relevant and effective and the provision of advice and guidance to the firm on matters relating to Data Protection.
  • Acting as the lead point of contact with the Bank ABC Group Data Protection Officer and relevant stakeholders across the Group (including ABC S.A.) as well as liaising with the UK Information Commissioners Office.
  • Supporting the banks approach to handling Data Subject Access Requests in liaison with other relevant departments (e.g. HR and Legal).
  • Responsibility for supporting regulatory reporting submissions as relate to the Compliance Department.
  • Provide regulatory advice and guidance in relation to internal compliance and external regulatory requirements.
  • Engage in Project Management activities and regulatory development in liaison with key stakeholders as relevant.
  • Involvement in the development and implementation of robust compliance policies and procedures.
  • Supporting the Head of Compliance in the continued execution of regulatory responsibilities under the SMCR including maintenance of the MRMs review and updates of SoRs preparation and submission of SMF/SoR applications etc.
  • Supporting the development and execution of an approved annual Compliance Plan.
  • Continually develop and undertake testing and assurance alongside the ABCIB Compliance Monitoring Programme following identification of key priorities and material risks for ABCIB including the subsidiary and its branches and the representative offices.
  • Support development and delivery of Compliance training (facetoface and eLearning) on varied regulatory topics and specialist focused training (e.g. Data Protection SMCR Whistleblowing CASS etc.)
  • Proactively identify and keep updated on regulations and regulatory changes as well as industry best practice and preparing impact analysis reports for dissemination to the business.
  • Undertake adhoc compliance investigations when required e.g. gap analyses and impact assessments.
  • Actively participate in relevant projects representing Compliance.
  • Investigate review escalate and report to appropriate authorities as appropriate all potential and regulatory actual breaches.
  • Investigate review and provide relevant guidance to staff in relation to Complaints Handling maintaining the respective Compliance registers as relevant.
  • Assisting with the management and development of Compliance and Data Protection KRIs updating relevant systems and business units.
  • Support Compliance and local staff in ABC S.A. offices and the Istanbul representative office in the satisfaction of compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a bank wide culture of Compliance centered on awareness and understanding of Compliance risks and responsibilities consistent with expectations of the Board and regulatory authorities.
  • Support the Deputy Head of Regulatory Compliance and Head of Compliance in developing and mentoring junior team members.
  • Provide feedback on the behavior of relevant staff including their compliance with and understanding of their regulatory responsibilities.
  • Act as a role model for business values and leadership behaviors.
  • Support the Head of Compliance with managing relations and effective communication with relevant senior management and regulatory authorities including PRA FCA and ICO.

Candidate Specification:

  • Thorough knowledge of UK and EU Data Protection regulation.
  • Sound knowledge of regulatory compliance including COBS SYSC CASS MiFID and relevant awareness of financial crime legislation and sanctions regimes affecting the bank.
  • Understanding and experience of small / medium sized Banks structure culture and business to understand the regulatory risks.
  • Understanding of compliance and financial crime requirements in target business markets.
  • Educated to degree level.
  • Compliance qualification.
  • Proven track record and strong experience as a Compliance Manager.
  • Energetic with a personal drive to get things done approaching tasks with a keen sense of urgency.
  • Ability to manage international Group stakeholders.
  • Strong at written and verbal influencing skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Openness in dealing with all staff.
  • Ability to engage with develop and mentor junior staff.
  • Sense of urgency in meeting deadlines whilst retaining attention to detail.
  • Coherent participant in discussions and meetings.
  • Ability to deal with staff at all levels within the organization.
  • Must believe in the benefit of a strong Compliance culture for the organization.
  • Strong communication presentation and influencing skills at senior level.
  • Exemplary integrity ethics independence and resilience.
  • Experience with reading digesting and analyzing laws and regulations and translation or interpreting them into plain understandable language to enable operational implementation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for handling diverse situations.
