Role Summary
As a Green Coffee Strategy Buyer, you will be responsible for selecting and securing raw material green coffee from multiple origins using market intelligence gained through deep engagement with producers and the green coffee trade.
The Buyer is a subject matter expert possessing very specific knowledge related to the sourcing of green coffee and has a coordinative role between internal and external stakeholders which requires a proactive & creative mindset in order to avoid or solve disruptions in the supply chain.
A Green Coffee Strategy Buyer plans, propose & executes buying strategies as well as proposes adjustments to policies, systems, and procedures in order that green coffee sourcing activities meet defined targets. The associated activities must recognize the long-term responsible sourcing goals of the company and as such the role works closely with our CSR team. Through the insights and education produced from these efforts, the Green Coffee Strategy Buyer also works closely with the Global Green Coffee Risk Management Lead.
Roles and Responsibilities
Sourcing
- Monitors changing trends in global market price and availability of coffee, understands the complexity of the market (fundamentals and technical) and ensures proper reporting on financial performance and risks to internal stakeholders
- Develops and executes physical differential procurement strategies based on market intelligence (gathered through conducting supply and demand analysis) and required volumes from materials planners
- Identifies and capitalizes on opportunities to improve the organization s buying patterns and supply channels
- Analyze planning requirements & forecast future demand
- Creatively solve (potential) nearby issues
- Contract management and general admin
Supplier Management
- Monitors contract compliance considering payments terms, prices, discounts & rebates and performance
- Monitors supplier performance on set KPIs and Quality level
- Coordinating role with suppliers & JDE logistics with a focus on a stable and continuous flow of coffee with limited working stocks
Governance
- Ensures compliance to internal policies & procedures and has a deep understanding of and manages compliance to the Combined Business Model
Management reporting
- Research & analysis of data[1]
- Strategy reporting
- On-demand presentations associated with S&D, risks, and ops of global supply, etc
Team
- Backup to other Green Coffee Strategy Buyers
- Able to work in a matrix organization with colleagues in fields such as finance, logistics, and quality to ensure end-to-end performance until factory door
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor s Degree
- Minimum 3+ years of green coffee industry experience
- Deep knowledge of green coffee origins, grades, qualities, business models, and industry operations
- Advanced MS Office Suite skills with a heavy weighting on Excel and PowerPoint
- Cross-functional team player with a hands-on mentality who is also able to take ownership and also work independently
- Experience working in a cross-boundary/multi-cultural environment
- Discipline, accuracy, analytical, flexibility, proactive, entrepreneurship, accountability, solidarity, simplicity, perseverance[1]
- English is the official language of the company, English is written and verbal communication skills is a must
