Today over 18000 patients residents and visitors alike see our health care teams for both outpatient and inpatient services.Summary:Responsible for receiving or obtaining specimens for laboratory analysis. Handles tissue for microscopic pathology and applies techniques used in the fields of Microbiology Hematology and immunology Immunohematology Chemistry and UrinalysisDuties: Responsible for recording lab test results accurately and is engaged in Quality Control (QC) and Quality Improvement (QI) and Total Quality Management (TQM). Works closely with all lab personnel physicians and clients nurses visiting friends ambulance volunteers and all other hospital personnel. Responsible for problem solving teaching and instrument maintenance. Supervises the Medical Laboratory Technician and the Lab Assistant. Works closely will all lab personnel physicians clients nurses visiting friends ambulance volunteers administration and all other hospital personnel. Accurate examination and analysis to assist physicians in making correct diagnosis of client s disease. Careful handling of infectious materials to protect all lab personnel. Collects blood as needed using universal blood and body fluid precautions. Assist Director in directing the instrument repairs ordering supplies maintaining service contracts and planning the purchase of new instrumentation. Must be able to operate and repair all equipment in the lab. Reviews and approves final test reports quality control results and test procedures. Checks the results of all work done by the MLT daily. Accessions specimens keeps accurate records & documentation and prepares and transmits reports neatly clearly and completely. Maintains a clean and orderly work area. Participates in fire and disaster training and follows Lab Exposure Control Guidelines Universal Blood and body Fluid Precautions and Hazardous Waste Plan. Maintains confidentiality on all client information. Works calmly and efficiently under the pressures of STAT lifethreatening situations. Able to give constant concentration in all testing procedures. Performs multiple duties simultaneously some STAT and others within specific time limits. Provides orientation training and guidance to staff to ensure work is carried out in a safe friendly manner. Assists in the evaluation of competency of all testing personnel through an annual review by direct observation of job skills. Assists in assuring that procedures manuals are written in accordance with CLIA and CAP requirements updated as needed and reviewed annually to ensure that employees have current information needed to perform tests. Assists in reviewing intermediate test results on worksheets quality control records proficiency testing results and preventative maintenance records and instrument function checks. Meets with and maintains working relationships with sales representatives. Participate in committees as assigned. Perform in accordance with all local state and federal laws and regulatory agency standards. Perform in accordance with EPH vision mission and goals. All other duties as assigned. Performs oncall duties as assigned. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology Associate of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Technology AHA BLS Certified by ASCP or AMT Performs phlebotomy as neededVERIFICATION OF CREDENTIALS CHECKLIST Before agency personnel may provide care to patients or perform any responsibility requiring a license a HR representative will confirm receipt of the following credentials/documents from candidates travel agency: Current CO license or multistate license and source verifiedo If permanent license verify online & print a copy of the page.o If temporary license have copy of authorization letter from Colorado Board of Nursing; verify by phone note on copy and place in their file. Copies of certifications required for the position that are listed in the Job Description.o Such as: BLS and ACLS must be AHA and PALS. Immunization records including documentation of immunity to Rubella Rubeola Mumps VaricellaZoste Hep B and Tetanus. TB test within the last year. Acceptable tests include QuantiFERON or Tspot or True Two step PPD (which means skins test and read must be done 2 times not just once. If they do not have the Two step PPD already it will take a few weeks to get it so the other options are suggested.) Influenza shot is required by the State of Colorado no exceptions during influenza season. Influenza season is Sept 1st (depending on availability of flu vaccines) through to March 31st of the following year or as otherwise defined by the Department of Epidemiology and Flu Surveillance Team. Confirmation of having received the COVID Vaccine (copy of vaccine card). Copy of negative 10 panel drug screen results (within the last 30 days). Resume with work experience. Documented references. Proof of all required Regulatory (OSHA) Training. Assessment of skills/competencies. Results of criminal background check including OIG (within the last 30 days). CAPS check through the State of Colorado (required for all patient care positions).
