The Cloud Architect is responsible for architecture and design for cloud native and hybrid cloud applications. Guides small teams of software engineers and architects using agile methodology with focus on continuous delivery and SE craftsmanship. Provides mentoring and coaching as well as acting as a role model for junior application architects and software engineering staff.
Job Summary
Primary Job Functions

Application Architecture and Design
Collaborate on cloud vision and strategy application migration roadmap and gain buyin from across business and IT area leads
Provide assessment of current state architecture recommendation of future state architecture using cloud technologies and develop reusable technical reference architectures to promote cloud adoption
Perform detailed analysis of application cross sections map to cloud functions and enable application migration to the cloud
Create data/transition architectures that map to future state cloud strategy and solutions
Provide architecture leadership for large scale migration of existing data center hosted applications to the cloud 65%
Cloud Governance and Leadership
Define governance models processes best practices and standards that promote the security and operational effectiveness of the cloud ecosystem
Support the formation of cloud service teams for the governance and administration of the cloud ecosystem through training and handson support
Define and document cloud processes and standards and influence the adoption of these processes and standards
Lead cost optimization and estimation discussions including usage analysis Cloud resource (Compute Storage Network etc.) planning technology infrastructure rightsizing pricing models and buying strategies 35%
Other
Foster highperformance architecture and design culture that delivers business value and takes pride in good quality design
Coach and mentor best practices in architecture frameworks strategy roadmaps data security cloud technologies FHIR and other interoperability standards.
Propose and execute steps to measure and remediate technical debt in application portfolio.

Required/Preferred Education Level Description
Required Bachelors Degree Bachelors Degree in computer or systems engineering related major
Preferred Masters Degree A graduate degree in Computer Science Information Systems Business Administration or Management
Required/Preferred Years of Experience Description
Required 8 Years Minimum 8 years related work experience
Required 2 Years Two or more years of experience architecting applications for execution in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud
Two or more years of experience architecting systems using cloud based big data technologies including AWS EMR AWS Kinesis Sqoop Spark Hive Redshift Snowflake etc.
Required
Agile and Lean evangelist and influencer; experienced in transitioning from legacy IT to productoriented customerfocused and crossfunctional organizations
Expert architect with experience creating architecture and design for highvolume lowlatency and cloudnative 12factor applications in AWS/Azure
Experience with relevant legal and regulatory requirements such as HITRUST SOC2 HIPAA Privacy & Security and other CMS regulations and guidelines
Experience with application delivery through DevSecOps and agile development processes leveraging CI/CD pipelines
Experience applying cloud access security brokers (CASBs) common and industry standard cloudnative/cloudfriendly authentication mechanisms (OAuth OpenID SAML etc.)
Required/Preferred License/Certification Description
Required Certification AWS or Azure certifications
Preferred Certification Java modern JavaScript Big Data certifications

Deep understanding of cloud security with focus on applying techniques for protecting sensitive (PHI/PII) data including encryption masking and tokenization
Comprehensive understanding of cost models for cloud services and experience evaluating ROI of proposed cloud architectures
Strong analytical research and conceptual skills (preferred)
The ability to create original concepts/theories for various projects (preferred)
Excellent presentation skills and communication skills (preferred)
Understand and consistently apply the attributes and processes of current architecture and design methodologies (preferred)
Ability to develop and maintain key relationships to achieve business objectives essential (preferred)
Strong understanding of the health insurance industry. (preferred)
