Summary
The Certification Specialist will become our in-house EMS education regulatory expert, ensuring our courses continue to meet state and national requirements for the certification and recertification of EMS providers. This position also involves guiding our students through the process of obtaining and renewing their EMS certifications.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, tech-savvy, and excels in the autonomy of a remote work environment but isnât afraid to ask for help when they get stuck. This person enjoys solving complex problems while diligently documenting their steps for others to follow.
Essential Functions
â Research and document the reciprocity, continuing education (CE) requirements, renewal requirements, and lapsed certification renewal requirements for every state.
â Regularly check for and document changes in CE requirements in each state and the NREMT.
â Regularly check for and document changes in state legislation pertaining to EMS education and certification.
â Establish a line of communication with the certification authorities in each state and the NREMT.
â Review our courses to ensure they contain the appropriate number of hours and topics needed for each EMS provider level in each state and the NREMT. Propose course changes as needed.
â Consult with our technology team to ensure online registration forms route students to the appropriate recertification course.
â Ensure our database contains studentsâ up-to-date certification records by regularly checking state and NREMT certification databases.
â Verify state and NREMT certification info provided by new and returning recertification students. Follow-up with students directly when their certification info is missing or inaccurate.
â As needed, assist students to determine the appropriate recertification course needed for their renewal.
â As needed, assist students to submit their state and NREMT initial certification, and renewal applications.
â As needed, assist students to obtain reciprocity certification in other states.
â Proactively reach out to students to remind them of upcoming recertification deadlines
â Ensure our courses remain exactly what students need to obtain and renew their EMS certifications.
Competencies

Requirements
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
â Associateâs Degree or higher
â At least two years of experience working for a healthcare organization in an administrative, clerical, patient support, billing, or healthcare provider role
â 6+ months experience in a customer service/support role in any industry
â 1+ year experience in a role that required data entry on a daily basis
â 1+ year experience in a role that required daily use of email and typical computer-based business applications
Preferred Experience
â Bachelorâs Degree or higher
â 2+ years experience in a credentialing role in the healthcare field
â 1+ year experience working with a healthcare provider education program
â Familiarity with EMS provider levels and certification requirements
â Previously or currently certified at or above the level of an EMT
â 1+ year experience working with Google applications such as Gmail, Sheets, Drive, and Documents
This is a remote position that requires reliable access to high speed internet. A distraction-free environment is also required during voice and video calls/meetings. It is expected that this position requires approximately 40 hours per week of work, with some hours at specific times as needed for calls and meetings.No travel is required in this position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds and to bend and stand as necessary.
