Business Development Manager (Internal Wholesaler)

Conveniently located in Toronto we are a successful and growing investment counselling firm which manages discretionary investment portfolios on behalf of families foundations and corporations. As a Portfolio Manager and Investment Fund Manager we manage a range of focused publicly traded and alternative investment portfolios on both a separate account and pooled fund basis using a valueoriented investing style.

Overview of Role

As a Business Development Manager you will be an important member of our team. You will build and maintain our firm s business development efforts in advisory channels wholesaling our proprietary investment funds to financial advisors family offices and institutions by targeted prospecting focussed marketing initiatives & by using your own network.

You have an energetic salesoriented personality enjoy working with people and building relationships. With an excellent working knowledge of traditional and alternative investment strategies you are able to clearly communicate with prospects and identify new business opportunities. This opportunity would be mainly internal with the opportunity to attend inperson meetings with the External Wholesaler & eventually be moved to a Hybrid Wholesaler if successful by year 2 (50% external /50% internal). The long term growth potential would be to move you into a fully External Wholesaler position & hire an Internal Wholesaler to support you. The role would initially be inoffice during training but would eventually have some flexibility to work remote (1 to 2 days per week).

Select Key Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility is developing a business development pipeline for the firm including identifying prospective clients and centers of influence and engaging with such parties on the firm s services and investment strategies with a mandate to grow the firm s assets.
  • Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of sales and marketing materials and strategic planning of marketing initiatives.
  • Liaising with other members of the firm to assist with the firm s business development objectives.

Profile of Ideal Candidate

You possess a University degree & relevant industry designations are also considered an asset. You have excellent written and verbal presentation skills and a willingness to do the little things behind the scenes.

You have a strong track record of success in a business development role ideally in the fund wholesaling ecosystem. Exposure to alternative investment strategies would be an added bonus. Experience in private client wealth management or institutional relationship management would also be considered a significant asset.

You enjoy working in a smaller entrepreneurial environment and are a high energy selfmotivated enthusiastic and a collaborative team player who is willing to roll up their sleeves and grow as we continue to expand.


Compensation: $60000$110000 base salary commission
