To support the work of the ASC Workforce Strategy team to develop and implement a programme of initiatives for the care sector to meet the needs of our residents and professionalise the workforce. As local authorities we have a statutory responsibility to provide care and support to all who need it. We fulfil much of this responsibility by commissioning independent providers who offer care in residential settings and in people s homes. The person in this role will be a self-starter who is capable of managing relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the sector.

This role reports to the Workforce Programme Leads. They will provide capacity to make connections between corporate services, regional partners and care providers to enable the programme to move forward.

Tasks

Act as the main link between the East Region International Recruitment project (external partners), Peterborough City Council and Cambridgeshire County Council disseminating information and communications from the project to internal teams and external care providers.

Work collaboratively with the communications teams across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to communicate initiatives to external care providers. This will include developing content for the Workforce Strategy project and any related initiatives.

Organise events for external providers and partners e.g. launch events, award ceremonies.

Work collaboratively with internal departments ensure the appropriate personnel are informed and linked into the programme for both internal and external initiatives.

Work collaboratively with external colleagues to keep up to date on regional and national initiatives for ASC workforce development.

Provide business support to the programme manager, including meeting administration, updating action plans and other project documentation.

Provide regular reporting, including analysis and evaluation of progress and the current and future status on the programme.

Support with the writing and presenting of reports and information to ensure appropriate teams and senior management are informed of the strategy and programme updates and gain approvals where needed.

Build highly effective relationships with and between partners and stakeholders to enable them to shape and support inclusive delivery of the programme. Embed consideration of Wellbeing, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion into development of the programme and strategy throughout.

Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion as this pertains to this role and the wider council. Model this through your own behaviours and take a lead in promoting this through our workforce strategy.

Requirements

Knowledge:

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of Local Government, with a particular focus on Adult Social Care.

Skills:

  • Proficient in IT and technology, utilizing them effectively to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Capable of taking swift and effective action when necessary.
  • Strong ability to plan and prioritize multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Autonomously driven, with a knack for contributing practical and innovative ideas.
  • Confident and adept communicator, experienced in engaging with a wide range of partners and stakeholders.
  • Skilled in delivering presentations tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrates resilience, maintaining high performance levels even in times of change and uncertainty.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in supporting diverse and complex programs.
  • Accomplished in writing communications for external audiences.
  • Track record of successfully working across organizations and building strong relationships.

Other:

  • Willingness and flexibility to work in various locations, including travel as required.
  • Demonstrates awareness and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion principles as they apply to the role.
  • Possesses a degree in an appropriate discipline or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Familiarity with adult social care, communications experience, and a history of engaging with external stakeholders.
  • Comfortable interacting with senior management teams and capable of working at different organizational levels.
  • Prior experience in a council setting.
  • Strong communication and networking skills.

This will be a hybrid position with a requirement to be in the office at New Shire Hall once a month or for important meetings. This is a 6 month contract, inside IR35
