Job Summary:
The Ambulatory Care Assistant (ACA) is responsible for maintaining a highly professional environment ensuring a collaborative relationship with patients physicians referring physicians nonlicensed and licensed staff in the Clinic.
The ACA assists with nonclinical tasks required to ensure smooth patient access and flow including scheduling patients for follow up office visits imaging and lab work preparation of appropriate chart elements and escorting patient to room and collecting vital signs and patient information.
May perform blood draw with phlebotomy certification.
Assists physician with tasks such as removing bandages collection of samples not requiring sterile procedures and other nonsterile tasks.
Stocks and organizes exam rooms and assists with storage of medical supplies.
This position also handles the preauthorization process and acts as a liaison between the providers and patient.
The ACA works collaboratively with clinical staff to ensure all proper records are received and all appropriate testing is completed prior to appointment/surgery date.
The ACA provides updates to the clinic staff and patients on timing ensuring patient flow.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Employee Health Services:
The EHS ACA duties do not include the preauthorization process or setting up surgery dates.
The EHS ACA works with the Workers Compensation Case manager and the RNs to communicate with the Employee with respect to testing treatment options and referring physician offices.
The EHS ACA works under the supervision of the RN.
Skills:
Required Skills & Experience:
Oneplus years in healthcare related field
Minimum one year of previous experience within an acute healthcare system environment.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook Word and Excel.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Working Knowledge of EPIC or other Electronic Medical Record system EMR.
Qualified bilingual or multilingual candidates.
Education:
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education:
Associates or Bachelors degree in healthcarerelated field.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
BLS (American Heart Assoc.)
Preferred Certifications & Licensure:
May only perform blood draws by meeting and maintaining State of California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPTI) Certification.
