Summary/Objective
The Accounts Payable Specialist ensures timely and accurate processing and maintenance of all nonpayroll disbursements and related documentation in accordance with established accounting standards.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Accurately code such items as invoices vouchers expense reports check requests etc. with correct codes conforming to standard procedures to ensure proper entry into the accounting program
Processes vendor payments identifies discounts and matches purchase orders/contracts/invoices
Process check requests
Audit and process credit card bills
Match invoices to checks obtain all signatures for checks and distribute checks accordingly
1099 maintenance
Respond to all vendor inquiries
Reconcile vendor statements research and correct discrepancies
Assist in month end closing
Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
Adhere to all established company safety policies and procedures
Perform additional assignments as directed
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED
Minimum two (2) years accounts payable general accounting or other related accounting experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word Excel Outlook
General knowledge of billing and collection practices as well as business office procedures
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills
Accuracy attention to detail and thorough in completing work tasks required
Ability to work independently take initiative set priorities and see projects through to completion
Preferred Education and Experience
Associate or Bachelor s degree
Three (3) or more years accounts payable general accounting or other related accounting experience
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Ability to pass a criminal background screen
Preemployment drug test

This position typically requires: grasping feeling talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift carry push pull or move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time (up to 2 hours per day) with no significant stooping being required.
