About the position

The La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science (LIMS) is a leading multidisciplinary biomedical research institute at La Trobe University in Melbourne dedicated to addressing global health and wellbeing challenges through innovative research spanning biology engineering genomics and partnership with La Trobe Universitys Indigenous Research Centre Gabra Biik Wurruwila Wutja (Clever Country Clever People) the LIMS Indigenous Research Fellowship supports First Nations Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander and Indigenous scientists to undertake world-class research in the molecular sciences.

The fellowship promotes Indigenous leadership self-determination and knowledge while providing opportunities for independent and collaborative research professional development and national and international partnerships within a culturally safe and inclusive research environment.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position you will have;

  • Ability to converse manage and engage with Indigenous communities effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and culturally safe with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to support community-led outcomes.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal communities and knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal cultures traditions and protocols.
  • Ability to embed Indigenous research methodologies.

LIMS Indigenous Research Fellowship Level B/C PD

  • Cover letter addressing your suitability for the position and the below KSC points as located in the PD
  • Completion of a PhD or equivalent accreditation and standing together with subsequent research experience.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal communities and knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal cultures traditions and protocols; ability to converse manage and engage with Indigenous communities effectively.
  • Ability to engage with Indigenous orga
  • nisations across Australia such as land councils native title corporations Aboriginal community-controlled organisations and Indigenous businesses.
  • A record of high-level scholarly research as evidenced by the impact and significance of research outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively with staff and students from a diverse range of backgrounds.; and
  • An up to date resume;
