Job Summary
JLE Group is seeking an experienced Switchboard Electrician to join our Manufacturing & Hire division. Based in Orange this role offers stable workshop-based work buildingHigh Voltage electrical equipment for major construction project renewables & data centres.
About the role
The Switchboard Electrician is responsible for the assembly wiring and testing of electrical switchboards distribution boards and related LV/MV systems ensuring all work is completed safely efficiently and in compliance with AS/NZS standards project specifications and company quality requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assemble wire and fit-off electrical switchboards and distribution boards.
- Install components including breakers relays busbars cabling systems and protection devices.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics single-line diagrams and layout drawings.
- Complete panel layout and internal wiring in line with design documentation.
- Conduct testing including continuity testing insulation resistance (IR) functional and operational checks.
- Identify and rectify defects or non-conformances and assist with FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and site commissioning where required.
- Complete QA documentation ITPs and test records.
- Ensure all work complies with AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules AS/NZS 61439 Switchboard Standards.
- Maintain accurate redline drawings and as-built documentation.
- Follow all WHS procedures SWMS and safe work practices.
- Apply lockout/tagout and isolation procedures.
- Maintain a clean safe and organised work environment.
- Assist in process improvements and standardisation.
- Mentor apprentices and junior trades where required.

What youll bring
Essential:
- NSW Electrical Licence.
- Electrical Trade Qualification.
- Strong understanding of AS/NZS 3000 and relevant industry standards.
- Experience in switchboard manufacturing.
- Knowledge of WHS and compliance requirements including Australian standards.
Desirable:
- Well-developed management skills such as planning organising and evaluation.
- Understanding and interpreting relevant Standards and Codes of Practice.
- 712 years experience in the trade.
