Health & Safety Manager Industrial Construction Projects

Providing health and safety guidance to the project team and making sure that the project is delivered in accordance with Mexican health and safety regulations as well as meeting all client requirements in this field. The health and safety manager will need to produce review and approve HSE plans in accordance with both legal and client requirements and be able to review and assure legal compliance topics such as: risk assessments legal audit & claims from local authorities regarding site safety labor inspections safety committees work streams contingencies determination and work job position adaptations incident investigations in the project leading all HSE teams.

• Plan and develop strategic work systems around HS&E guidelines e.g.: recommending suitable processes aligned with clients and regulatory standards for construction projects.
• Support existing site safety team for keeping reporting regimes are in place for Health and Safety statistics
• Support business change via effective change management processes in a fast-paced environment when required
• Implement and monitor corporate HSE policies & meet governmental / regulatory requirements monitoring KPIs and providing trainings
• Implement and review the Clients global safety policies ensuring that local legislative requirements are also met
• Maintaining and developing personal competence to meet the demands of both the business and Clients.

It is expected that the successful candidate will have sufficient flexibility to manage and deliver projects within the region.

Qualifications :

Education and Experience

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering Architectural or related to H&SE
• Qualified Health and Safety Professional holding specialized courses in occupational health and safety according to Mexican regulations.
• Minimum of 8 years professional experience in the position working in construction projects.
• OSHA certification
• BOLT registered trained and familiar is a MUST prior to screening
• ISO 45001 Lead Auditor certification (preferred)
• Fluent in Spanish and in English

Qualifications and skills

• A flexible individual who is able to understand the issues presented and adapt general methods and processes to meet the Clients needs with previous experience mixed used building shopping centers or industrial building greenfield construction Safety experience.
• Flexible approach to work while always managing your own priorities and workload being a self-starter and team leader.
• Able to effectively lead and manage a H&S team
• Excellent communication and influencing skills: youre also result-oriented and tenacious
• Comfortable communicating at all levels of seniority within a large organization
• Possess an in-depth understanding Mexico Health and Safety legislation
• Quickly build credibility using your influencing skills and strategies to build buy-in for change
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) Essential.
• Capacity to deliver trainings
• Ability to effectively plan and organize own workload to meet deadlines Essential.
• Good IT skills to generate reports and documents
• Excellent Client empathy
• Solutions driven
• Experience working in a multi-cultural environment is a plus
