Head of Health & Safety UK (Maternity Cover 12-Month Contract)

• Ensure the implementation of health safety and environmental policies procedures and programs across all entities within the organisation 
• Provide professional advice on health and safety legislation and good practices to the organisation 
• Implement the Egis group Health Safety and Security global policy and strategy and coordinate monthly reporting mechanisms for the group  
• Collaborate closely with entity-specific leadership teams to align health and safety goals strategies and initiatives with overall business objectives. 
• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards assess their impact and recommend appropriate control measures. 
• Monitor and maintain compliance with all relevant health safety and environmental legislation regulations and standards providing expert advice and guidance to ensure adherence. 
• Coordinate thorough training programs to educate employees and contractors on safe working practices emergency procedures and hazard identification. 
• Lead incident investigations analyse root causes and develop corrective and preventive action plans to prevent future occurrences. 
• Maintain a robust reporting system to track health and safety performance metrics providing regular reports and insights to management. 
• Foster a culture of safety consciousness by promoting engagement participation and accountability across all levels of the organisation. 
• Liaise with regulatory authorities industry bodies and relevant stakeholders to stay informed about evolving health and safety trends and best practices. 
• Drive continuous improvement through the identification of emerging risks and the implementation of innovative solutions to enhance overall safety performance. 
• Co-ordinate manage and mentor a team of health and safety professionals ensuring their ongoing development and effectiveness in supporting the organisations safety objectives. 
• Support Sentinel co-ordination and management for our rail business.

Qualifications :

• Bachelors degree in occupational health and safety Environmental Science or a related field (advanced degree preferred). 
• Professional certifications such as NEBOSH Diploma are required. 
• Extensive experience (at least 7-10 years) in health and safety management preferably within large matrix organisations with multiple entities. 
• Proven track record of successfully developing  and  implementing  health  and  safety programs that align with complex business structures. 
• In-depth knowledge of UK health safety and environmental legislation regulations and best practices. 
• Strong analytical skills to assess risks incidents and trends and derive actionable insights for improvement. 
• Excellent communication and leadership skills to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and influence positive change. 
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a keen attention to detail. 
• Proficiency in using health and safety management software and tools. 
• Prior experience in managing and leading a team of health and safety professionals is a plus.
