This opportunity:
We are searingfor an outgoing and driven Public Affairs Officer to join us someone who has a focus on delivering great work generating ideas and a keen interest in health current affairs and politics across all nations of the UK.
At its heart this role is to support the delivery of an outstanding service and experience for our members through eye-catching strategic communications public affairs and campaigns.
Joining MDDUS will give you an opportunity to work with a diverse range of colleagues including doctors dentists and lawyers as we provide a service thats firmly on the side of our members. The role will also enable you to get involved in other aspects of our work including research social media and organising events.
Having an interest in health its delivery and the development of policy alongside an understanding of how health is delivered in the NHS and private sector across all the devolved nations would be an advantage.
This is an opportunity for someone who is passionate about public affairs and looking to build their experience and expertise in an organisation that plays an important part in the delivery of safe healthcare.
The role is busy and varied and the successful candidate will get wide-ranging experience working across a number of key public affairs and communications activities. You will also be supported to develop your expertise through training and ongoing support and development.
Youll also collaborate with our wider colleagues and contribute towards MDDUSs mission under the guidance of our Head of Public Affairs and Communications
What you can bring to this role:
Essential criteria:
Experience/Qualification in Public Affairs: Previous experience in a public affairs environment within government healthcare or the private sector or a degree or post graduate qualification in public affairs politics or public policy analysis.
Stakeholder engagement and networking: Evidence that indicates being able to build and maintain relationships with elected politicians their offices and other key stakeholders
Design and Branding Skills: Proficiency in using design tools such as Canva to produce branded materials from concept to final deployment.
Data Analysis: evidence an ability to analyse complex data and translate it into simple and clear briefings that will influence policy makers. Strong experience using MS Excel Power BI and other data analytics tools would be advantageous.
Briefing Creation: Experience in preparing briefings for Members of Parliament (MPs) Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) or internal stakeholders.
Desirable criteria:
Health Sector Knowledge: Familiarity with or experience in the health sector is preferred but not mandatory.

Organisational Skills: Demonstrated ability to organise events internal seminars or other activities requiring strong planning and coordination.
Excellent Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with prior experience in writing and communications being advantageous.
Teamwork and Independence: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team especially on challenging and rewarding projects.
Personal and Professional Development: Motivation to grow professionally and contribute positively to the organisation and its members
