Job Summary

The Staff BMC Engineer is a highly experienced hands-on technical leader responsible for driving complex initiatives and shaping the BMC software stack across Graphcores AI systems. They will lead projects end-to-end contribute deeply to implementation and influence technical direction across teams.

The Team

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team at Graphcore. We are developing a complete OpenBMC-based software stack for both Baseboard Management Controller and Rack Management Controller platforms. This includes development of low-level drivers system services WebBMC interfaces and Redfish APIs.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Design and implement features within the OpenBMC software stack
• Take ownership of projects tasks or initiatives from design through delivery
• Collaborate with hardware firmware and platform teams to define and implement interfaces
• Debug and resolve complex system-level issues across software and hardware boundaries
• Contribute to architectural discussions and technical decisions
• Review code designs and test plans to maintain high engineering standards
• Improve system reliability performance and maintainability
• Support and contribute to Agile development processes.

Candidate Profile

Essential:

• Bachelor/Masters/PhD or equivalent experience in Computer Science Maths Machine Learning Data Science or related field
• Strong programming experience in C/C and at least one of Python or Rust
• Solid experience with Linux systems and embedded software development
• Experience developing or maintaining production-quality software systems
• Good understanding of system-level debugging and troubleshooting
• Ability to independently own and deliver technical work
• Strong collaboration and communication skills

Desirable

• Experience with OpenBMC or similar platforms
• Experience with Yocto or embedded Linux build systems
• Familiarity with hardware interfaces (I2C SPI GPIO PCIe etc.)
• Awareness of Redfish and system management standards
• Experience working with server or datacenter systems
