The Psychiatric Urgent Care clinic at Sheppard Pratts Elkridge and Towson campuses is a walk-in service for people needing immediate psychiatric care. Its designed to be focused on immediate triage and assessment to guide patients to the best next step in treatment.
What to expect:
The Psychiatrist in Psychiatric Urgent Care (PUC) provides essential clinical expertise by conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations including mental status examinations and diagnostic summaries. This individual is responsible for formulating initial diagnoses and determining the most appropriate level of careincluding the necessity for hospitalizationfor patients presenting with a wide spectrum of mental health and substance use disorders.
Depending on the experience level of the selected candidate there is opportunity for appointment ore advancement into a leadership role for Admissions and PUC. The leadership role would involve providing clinical oversight to ensure the safety quality and efficiency of immediate psychiatric triage. This leadership function involves establishing clinical protocols for rapid assessments optimizing patient throughput and facilitating seamless transitions to inpatients units or alternative care settings. Working in close partnership with the Senior Director of Access and Chief of Medical Staff the leader aligns clinic operations with Sheppard Pratts mission and strategic objectives. Other leadership responsibilities include supervising a multidisciplinary team and trainees managing department budgets and ensuring full compliance with licensing and regulatory accreditation standards.

What we need from you:
- Completion of a training program and practical experience in an acute psychiatric setting.
- Completion of a residency training program.
- Board Certification in Psychiatry and active Maryland medical license.
Possession of a Maryland Controlled Substances Registration and a valid DEA Certificate.
Experience leading care teams in behavioral health or psychiatric care settings.
Support education and standardization opportunities to enhance care delivery.
The base pay range for this position is $260000 minimum to $350000 maximum.âPay for this position is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to board certifications and years and level of related experience.
