Job Summary
Description:
A quality control technician is responsible for performing routine analytical and physical tests to ensure resulting finished products and packaging meets internal and regulatory standards. This role will work closely with production and perform a wide variety of tasks such as product testing raw material inspection finished good inspection sanitation inspection and creating finished good or packaging holds.
This job may require lifting/carrying cases weighing 20-40 pounds repeatedly over 8 to 12 -hour shifts and often continuously standing and walking or manipulating and handling product samples while sitting.
Responsibilities:
Monitor the production lines for quality issues
Complete analytical testing on finished products using various scientific methods
Ensure compliance to food safety standards by performing audits and inspections
Collect and plate routine micro samples from ingredients water and equipment surfaces
Perform review of production paperwork for compliance
Complete routine lab equipment calibration and maintenance
Manage non-conforming finished products/ incoming materials
Create and train frontline and salaried staff on new SOPs
Conduct quality related trainings with front line associates
Participate in Lean Six Sigma/TPM initiatives
Provide support to new product innovation projects
Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs
Requirements:
High School diploma
Bachelor of Science Degree in a science related field is preferred not required
At least 1 year of experience with audit compliance (e.g. monitoring documentation variance explanation etc.)
Experience with basic chemistry (e.g. titrator pH dosing graduated cylinders mixing etc.)
Experience with food safety (e.g. AIB certification operations prerequisite programs UP lights etc.)
Experience following standards of operations (SOPs) (e.g. following procedures etc.)
Experience calibrating instruments (e.g. making adjustments to ensure accurate measurement etc.)
Experience preferred with microbiology (e.g. product sensitivity Category 3 and Category 4 products etc.)
Experience preferred with reverse osmosis/water treatment systems (e.g. permeated technology etc.)
Experience preferred with mechanical systems (e.g. general trouble shooting cleaning and reassembly etc.)
Experience with sensory testing (e.g. taste odor appearance vs. reference sample etc.)
Ability to work on weekends holidays as well as off shift
Willingness to work overtime
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time with or without a reasonable accommodation
Ability to climb bend reach stoop kneel and stretch for extended periods with or without a reasonable accommodation
Ability to repeatedly lift carry push pull and handle products with or without a reasonable accommodation
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs
Good person-to-person written email conflict resolution and radio communication skills.
Proficient computer experience and math skills
Ability to wear required safety attire which may include wearing a hairnet safety glasses and/or a bump cap for the duration of your workday.
PPE -Must wear steel toe boots this is required to enter the facility.
