COMPENSATION PACKAGE
- Base salary $70000 to $75000
- Annual bonus targeted at 5% tied to business performance. Pays above 5% in strong years

POSITION DESCRIPTION
This is a general accountant role with a clear runway. You will own a real piece of the close not a corner of it: good journal-entry volume month-end fixed assets tax remittances FX intercompany and audit support. The company wants someone fast and accurate enough to carry that load and ambitious enough to keep climbing past it. Strong performers here move up to Senior Accountant fast.
- Prepare and enter month-end transactions into the general ledger via journal vouchers
- Perform balance sheet analysis and support the Accounting Manager and Controller through month-end close
- Maintain the Fixed Asset database and module recording additions and disposals on the perpetual ledger
- Prepare and remit GST HST QST and WSIB monthly
- Reconcile all bank accounts and balance sheet accounts (sundry receivable prepaid accrued liabilities) monthly
- Prepare and review the impact of foreign exchange on translation of cash and intercompany accounts
- Perform inter-company reconciliations and assist with invoice coding
- Upload monthly financials into the consolidation software and SharePoint
- Prepare periodic tax and insurance packages for internal and external stakeholders
- Extract and provide data for quarterly and annual internal and external audits
- Investigate departmental financials on request and support ad-hoc analytical work
- Create and maintain accounting process documentation
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Roughly 3 years of general accounting experience with hands-on full-cycle exposure
- Currently enrolled in CPA Designation
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
- Manufacturing accounting background strongly preferred: inventory cost of goods sold month-end journal entries internal controls
- Open to candidates without manufacturing if they are demonstrably fast learners with solid core accounting knowledge and clear aptitude to pick up manufacturing concepts quickly
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and full-cycle accounting
- Solid bank and balance sheet reconciliation skills accurate and timely
- ERP experience (IFS SAP Oracle or similar) and strong Excel
- Speed paired with accuracy: comfortable with high journal-entry volume and month-end deadlines including managed overtime at peak
- Understanding of GST/HST/QST and regulatory filings is an asset
- Genuinely ambitious: wants the path to Senior Accountant and is willing to earn it on demanding work
- Strong attention to detail investigative problem-solving and the organization to manage competing month-end and audit deadlines
Non-obvious target profile: a strong staff or intermediate accountant currently at a manufacturer distributor or other inventory-heavy business who is being under-stretched and wants more volume more responsibility and a clear promotion track.
