The Opportunity

Carlson Construction Group is seeking an experienced Project Safety Lead to support an exciting new project starting soon.

This is an excellent opportunity for a safety professional who is ready to take ownership of onsite safety leadership strengthen our safety culture and play a key role on a highprofile project in a fastpaced construction environment.

This is a projectbased fixedterm position operating on a 10 days on / 4 days off rotation.

About the Role

The Project Safety Lead is a critical member of the onsite leadership team and is responsible for driving safety performance across all phases of the project. This role provides handson safety leadership ensures compliance with regulatory and client requirements and promotes a proactive solutionsfocused safety culture among employees and subcontractors.

Your work will directly protect our people and support the successful execution of the project.

Key Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Maintain and manage safety documentation records and incident statistics
  • Review site safety documentation and provide constructive feedback and coaching
  • Support planning for new work activities and conduct worker orientations
  • Lead toolbox talks safety meetings and training sessions
  • Monitor safety compliance among employees and subcontractors
  • Conduct hazard assessments site inspections and incident investigations
  • Keep management informed of safety risks and potential operational impacts
  • Promote and uphold safe work practices across the project site
  • Proactively participate in hazard identification and riskreduction initiatives

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of field safety experience ideally in industrial marine or heavy civil construction
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence safe work behaviours
  • Postsecondary education in a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized with a resultsdriven mindset
  • Willingness to work a 10/4 rotational schedule and travel as required

Skills & Attributes That Set You Apart

  • Professional safety designation (CRSP RCSO CHSC CSS CIH ROH) preferred
  • Occupational First Aid Level 3 (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience with BCCSA COR programs and auditing
  • High personal professional and ethical standards
  • Proactive solutionsoriented approach with sound judgment
  • Strong relationshipbuilding analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Excellent timemanagement and prioritization abilities
  • Commitment to learning and ongoing professional development.
