Job Summary
Job Title: Specialty Doctor in Palliative Medicine
Location: Marie Curie Hospice West Midlands
Salary: Specialty Doctor Scale 61542 - 99216 per annum pro rata (dependent on experience) and 5% Availability Supplement
Hours: 6-7 PA (24-28 hours) with 1 in 5 on-call commitment
Contract: 12 months - fixed term
Closing Date: Friday 29th May
Interview Date: Friday 12th June
Anticipated Start Date: 20th July 2026
The post holder will support the Medical Director in providing high-quality palliative care services at the West Midlands Hospice primarily by providing medical support for a 12-bed in-patient unit and a community team.
This role involves participation in training and educational activities as well as activities relating to maintaining clinical excellence within the service.
Experience in palliative medicine is desirable. There will be ongoing education and supervision for the successful applicant.
What we are looking for:
Full GMC registration a licence to practiceand at least 4 years of full-time postgraduate training (2 of which must have been in relevant acute specialities/or demonstration of equivalent experience and competencies).MB ChB or equivalent
Postgraduate experience within the NHS
Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Communication skills that are sensitive to patients and carers
