The Michigan Central District (MCD) is a high-profile hub of innovation serving as a global center for future mobility. Our security team plays a vital role in creating a safe secure and welcoming environment for employees tenants and the public across iconic properties like the Michigan Central Station Book Depository The Factory Bagley Parking St. Annes and surrounding district areas. We are seeking a professional highly motivated Security Generalist for the Michigan Central District. This is an armed security position requiring the ability to carry and proficiency with a firearm. This role provides comprehensive security support requiring flexibility and the ability to work in shifts while maintaining a vigilant security presence.



Responsibilities

What youll do

  • Provide comprehensive access control building security and emergency response for employees executives tenants visitors and the public within all Michigan Central District properties
  • Administer security services including monitoring security cameras electronic access control systems alarm systems and specialized security equipment ensuring optimal functionality through routine checks and basic troubleshooting
  • Conduct frequent foot and/or vehicle patrols of interior and exterior areas throughout the district to deter unauthorized activity identify potential security vulnerabilities or hazards monitor site conditions and ensure site integrity
  • Serve as a first responder to emergency and non-emergency incidents including medical emergencies fire alarms and behavioral situations exercising sound judgment and de-escalation techniques
  • Provide armed personnel protection and emergency response for executives employees and visitors maintaining firearm proficiency and legal compliance
  • Produce clear concise and detailed written incident reports and activity logs to document security fire and other related events
  • Communicate effectively via radio phone and in-person to provide timely and accurate updates during routine operations and emergency incidents
  • Provide emergency notifications to all levels of management and key personnel coordinating with the Detroit Security Operations Center (DSOC) and local Detroit authorities as needed
  • Deliver a high level of Hospitality-First customer service assisting employees tenants and visitors with directions information and general support representing the Ford brand with professionalism
  • Protect company classified and sensitive information with strict confidentiality
  • Collaborate with other Ford Security Generalists and Global Security team members to support special events high-profile public events VIP visits and district-wide initiatives
  • Follow standard operating procedures ensuring adherence to company and department policies and all Global Security protocols
  • Maintain a sharp professional appearance and uphold Fords standards of excellence at all times
  • Be available to work 24x7 365 days a year; able to work off-shifts weekends holidays and change shifts as required including emergency call-ins


Qualifications

Youll have

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum five (5) years experience in law enforcement military or relevant armed security roles
  • Possess a valid Drivers license
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm rational and professional under pressure including stressful emergency situations (i.e. medical fire security or other life-threatening incidents)
  • High level of integrity and professionalism
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Strong observation skills and attention to detail with the ability to administer duties with accuracy
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service mindset
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced urban environment
  • Ability to sit/stand for long periods and stand/walk for extended periods performing patrols in various weather conditions
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
  • Strong Microsoft Office and computer skills; ability to navigate department technology platforms (e.g. CCTV Access Control)
  • Must possess a Concealed Pistol License (CPL) and demonstrate firearm proficiency as a condition of hire

Even better you may have

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice Emergency Management or a related field
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification
  • Experience using advanced security technology (e.g. security cameras electronic access control alarm systems)
  • Experience in a high-traffic hospitality-focused multi-tenant urban environment or high-profile public-facing site
  • Prior experience as a first responder to emergency incidents
  • Possess a Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) or meet the requirements to obtain one within 1 month from the date of hire

This position is a salary grade 4 and ranges from $56400-$94900.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidates skills and experience and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope responsibility and competitive market value.
