Job Summary
IFM brings together world-class facilities and a diverse team working across contemporary areas of advanced materials fibres energy manufacturing structural and circular materials. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Institute through a dynamic period of growth and impact.
You will have the opportunity to lead IFMs research vision drive industryaligned impact whilst guiding and championing teams to advance Deakins strategic priorities.

As the Director IFM you will be accountable to:
- Set and drive IFMs strategy aligning research priorities and partnerships with university goals
- Lead and develop highperforming multidisciplinary research teams that foster innovation and collaboration
- Drive research performance through clear priorities strong outcomes and meaningful contribution to university objectives
- Build influential external partnerships to enhance reputation impact and opportunity
- Ensure strong governance financial sustainability and effective operations while enabling crossuniversity collaboration
To be successful youll have:
- Doctoral qualification and standing consistent with senior academic leadership along with a strong record of scholarly achievement and contribution to a relevant field
- Proven ability to secure research funding partnerships and collaborative opportunities and experience managing budgets resources and operations within a research or academic environment
- Significant academic leadership experience with a strong track record in research performance and impact with a demonstrated ability to influence across organisational boundaries and build external relationships
- Demonstrated success in leading multidisciplinary teams and building research capability
