Job Summary
The Centre for Accessibility Services (CAS) Manager provides leadership overall
direction planning and administration of CAS to ensure that persons with disabilities
have access to UFV programs and addition to management duties the
manager also serves as an Accessibility Advisor.
In collaboration with the Associate Director the incumbent participates in defining
strategic goals for the CAS and develops implements and maintains policies and
procedures related to the delivery of services for students with disabilities.
The manager oversees and maintains numerous budgets and funding sources that
support that overall operation of the Centre for Accessibility Services. The incumbent
liaises with internal and external partners and stakeholders to maintain and improve
services to students with disabilities.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in relevant field (e.g. Adult Education Social Work) or a related discipline (e.g. Psychology Sociology Communications).
Five (5) years of experience working with adults with a disability preferably in an educational setting.
A teaching credential or certification related to the aforementioned degree is considered an asset.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Computer literacy and experience with adaptive technologies is essential.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries.
Flexible and skills at managing the intricacy of a busy multi-dimensional work environment that is student-centered.
Excellent interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work independently.
Possess personal attributes that facilitate teamwork and the development of effective working relationships with a wide range of students faculty staff and community members.
Able to take initiative exercise good judgement and make appropriate decisions.
Experience in dealing with crisis and conflict management.
Able to work occasional evenings and travel to other UFV campuses as required.
